There's been a lot of negative feedback about the threaded view, this in itself doesn't really bother me, because people who prefer flat can switch back to flat.

As long as some people like theaded, it was worth the effort.

So I'm just wondering how many people like it?

Would there be a way to do a "nested" option, so we can see the threads but don't have to open each individual post?

I was thinking about that too... It's not a part of the mod, but it doesn't seem like a very complicated mod to make... to the mod so to speak.

Word. The threaded look doesn't bother me, but I do want the nice big reply button back.

Sad <----- I just realised the big reply button is gone!
Oh, and threaded sucks. With 56k, I don't want to keep flipping through pages.

I agree, its a bit of a pain. Also, is there any way that you could see the message top level replies? (Think something like what Slashdot has, less the moderation)

animenewsnetwork.com/bbs/phpBB2/profile.php?mode=editprofile

change "Topic View" to "flat".

Yeah, that's why the big reply buttonis actually gone. With that button there's no way to know if you're replying to the first or last message, or one in between.

Each message now has a new field called "Parent_ID" which is based on the message you reply to. There'd be no way to work that into the big reply button other than to assume that you were replying to either the first or the last post...

The problem with the replies is that the two views really aren't compatable. For people in flat view the reply will always be at the bottom so you can click on any of the reply buttons, but in the thread view it will make it a direct followup to that post which may or many not be what the person in Flat view intended.

For example I know I'm replying to Tempest's last post, but if I clicked on someone elses reply button it wouldn't look that way in thread view.

I prefer flat, because it takes forever on a dial-up connection to open all the posts. Flat lets me scroll through all of them quickly. Also, there should be a general reply or "All" button for times when you aren't responding to a particular post but rather are adding something new or making a general observation about the discussion. I've seldom had trouble figuring out who said what in response to whom when viewing flat threads. (^_*)

as long as they're 1 page... I wouldn't be willing to touch a 30 page flat on a slow connection (and if you think your connection is slow, I browse this website from my PDA... 9600 baud Shocked ).

I agree in principle, but the problem with that is that people in flat would use it all the time, not just when they want to make a new point.

If you want to add something new that isn't really a followup to anyone else's post, reply to the first post.

Just a suggestion/query:

Is it possible to have two different cookies to allow what us users want in the way of views? I preferably want to log onto the boards, and have flat view already setup, with another poster would have their preferences setup as threaded.
