I think that I may have come off as a bit harsh in my initial post. I watched the dubbed version of Karin for all three of the volumes released by Geneon and I agree that the dub for Karin was getting better as the series went on. However, I think that they should have done a better job from the start. I really loved the series when I watched it fansubbed and I was really looking forward to seeing it get a good quality dub. Don't get me wrong I did enjoy watching the series dubbed as Karin is one of my favorite anime whichever language I watch it in. I just think that the dub should have been treated better considering how well done the original version was. Here is a quote from the ANN review of volume one: "Overall the dub isn't intolerably bad, but it isn't something that could be recommended even for dedicated dub fans, either." Basically, what I am saying is that Funimation obviously could do an English version far superior to what Odex put out. However, if more of Karin is released whether the English version is done by Funimation or Odex I will buy it regardless and enjoy it. I love Karin that much.

I understand. Sorry if I was being an idiot or something like that. Anyway, let's hope Geneon survives! Maybe FUNimation can help them! Very Happy

If they are talking about the old DIC chopped dub of Sailor Moon, then they can keep it in the cellar. I'll want nothing to do with it. But if they are talking about getting the whole Sailor Moon franchise uncut and redubbed, meaning all seasons and movies as well, then they get my money. I'm looking at you Lance!

ADV put out uncut sub only of the first 2 seasons & Pioneer had the rest except Stars uncut & dub/sub

Although I am weary of the attempts of FUNimation getting Sailor Moon (although I am not disputing it, it's just that as a member of the SM fandom we've experienced a lot of disappointments so I'm jaded), if they did get it I would buy every single release they had, even though I have the entire series from the ADV/Pioneer run of DVDs and I have a StarS DVD set. The best case scenario would be a whole new dub, the lost episodes included, and StarS being licensed.

And then after that a manga revival by Del Rey Anime smile I stopped buying Tokoypop manga a while back after my favorite series ended their run and I think Del Rey would be better for the re-release of the manga anyway.

Another Sailor Moon related item: At TokyoPop's Otakon 2007 panel and this is in the ANN recording of the panel at about the 28 minute mark, a person asks something about the Sailor Moon manga and the TokyoPop rep stated that TokyoPop is currently trying to renegotiate the manga license for Sailor Moon from Toei. This item made it to Sunday's Otakon 2007 PGSM panel then to Genvid.com who made the confirmation discovery in the ANN video, here's the article: http://www.genvid.com/News/TokyoPop-attempting-to-renegotiate-manga-license.html

Frankly, I rather see someone other than TOKYOPOP from getting the Sailor Moon manga License. Not unless DJ Milky resigns first and they hire more competent translators.

Laughing

Yeah, DJ Milky needs to retire...or at least realize that he's not a teenager or a twenty-something.

I'm with a lot of other people, it would be great if Del Rey got the manga.

Hmm. That's the first news I ever heard that there was an uncut dub of Sailor Moon at all. I remember seeing it on the old Pioneer site, but I also remember it saying subbed only, and that was back in 2000.

Sailor Moon? I think I might burst into tears. I hope they get Toei to realize how many want Stars. I also hope they keep the old dubs- and just sell the dvds again.

I'm in the process now of trying to buy some of the Sailor Moon Super dvds...i hope it works out.

;__; I still want S and SuperS. But really, I do want to buy the Stars, whether or not they dub it. But really...

Terri Hawkes >>>>>> Lynda Ballantyne
Tracy Moore (first Serena) >>> Lynda Ballantyne
Stephanie Morgenstern >Emily Barlow
Karen Bernstien > Liza Balkan

I WANT THEM BACK.

I like Stephanie Beard as Rini, though she kinda doesn't have that "attitude" that Tracey Hoyt gave her.
I'm personally happy that they kept the original actors in the movies.

And Susan Aceron...I loved her as Mistress 9. S had to have been my favorite series overall. What bothered the hell out of me was the person that they replaced for Serena. It still makes me cry when I listen to her...sometimes.. >.>;

But a re-release of the whole season...I know someone mentioned it, but I don't know if I would like that...considering that I've already collected the seasons. xD I mean, I guess I would happy to collect it
but for the sake of having 4 different versions of the same series...

Funimation did it with DBZ, so I'm sure that it could happen..
I kinda feel up in the air with that.

Sailor Moon anime to return to NA? That would make me very happy since me and one of my brothers really like Sailor Moon. It could be awesome if FUNi could successfully negotiate the NA rights to Sailor Moon from Toei and a Sailor Moon revival goes into full swing and it wold be awesome if Toei gives FUNi the NA rights to Sailor Stars.

I wonder, if they would either

a) keep most of the old cast (like Tenchi Muyo) and add new actors.
b) Release it in Japanese only.

(Anime hyper hehe, that's what I get for opening too many tabs on Firefox.)

I'm firmly in the CCS camp. Sailor Moon was somewhat annoying, but my daughter totally loved it so I bought all the S/Super S whatever the hey Pioneer put out. I know because Ryo Horikawa & Hikaru Midorikawa made guest shots & I watched their eps in Japanese. I did sit thru a viewing of the 2 uncut sub seasons from ADV, but I never watched most of the rest of them. There was Sailor Moon Heart (6 dvds covering eps 90-127) & Sailor Moon Pegasus (7 dvds covering eps 127-162) & the movie set with 3 movies. I thought they boxed them, though it may have just been for North America.

There may have been minor cuts (the usual odd stuff die-hard fans complain about), but she made a point of playing the elephant joke for me. I believe they came out in 2003 or so

I would have liked to have seen CCS uncut, but they only had Card Captors here in the UK which was on our ITV channel 3 and it was dreadful so never got into it that much. My daughter was a great fan of Sailor Moon and would love to see it uncut aswell, but it would have to be dubbed as would CCS.
