| if it's going to start off with early dragonball, i wonder if they'll allow the infamous "no balls" scene that is pretty much one of the funniest scenes in dragonball altogether. | ||||||||||

Why is the race of an actor playing a character who is a green skinned alien even relevant? I think your friend needs to stop sniffing glue. |

Ditto that. Tien was a fantastic character in Dragonball. My favorite, for sure. (Piccolo was my favorite of DBZ). He was so badass when he was introduced, and his inner struggle when he switched sides was more emotionally tangible than any of the other Z guys. He really was torn up about the life he'd lived. But truly, I don't want to see ANY live action of DBZ. The character designs and musculature are permanently engrained in my brain. None of the men they choose will resemble our DBZ heroes even remotely. Real actors will all look lackluster, and scrawny, I'm afraid. Or if they do have the musculature, they'll have these big beefy faces to go with it, which also is inconsistent with how DB guys look. That Lee guy is cute, but he'll be too skinny. Now if they did a big budget realistic-looking CG of Dragonball, that would be another story... Think Advent Children. I would pay money all day long to see that. |

And I think you need loosen up or you'll never get that pole out of your ass >.> Why is it no one can take a joke here o,o? That's gotta be one of the first times I ever laughed even a little over something DBZ related <.< Last edited by babbo on Tue Nov 13, 2007 3:08 am; edited 1 time in total |

Wouldn't he make a better Chaotsu?
Where are all you guys getting DB & not DBZ? The plans I've seen have been to do the Vegeta plot, although they were the original. It also matches shooting in Canada for the cities (when Vegeta & Nappa land) & desert (the battle) DB would be Goku as a child or a tournament story. Remember, he showed up at the Tourni & no one recognized him because he'd grown during all his training? If it's the beginning, Yamcha's about 15 as is Bulma & Goku's about 12. Krillin shows up the next year as his rival. |

Thank you very much for clarifying that up to him for me! Yes, I indeed meant that as something not to be taken very seriously at all.
Heh, yeah, good point. Except I've always thought it'd look ridiculous to make the Nameks look like the ones from the series, but I guess if you can get a good makeup artist it wouldn't be all that bad. |

| CCS: Yeah, a movie where Goku plays a kid would suck as much as one where Darth Vader is a kid. |

| Yeah, Gatsu, we all know a movie about a cute little boy having adventures goes over well with the action movie crowd.
I love DB probably more in many ways than DBZ, but the fact is that first segment of the manga didn't do so well which is why they went to the fighting stuff. The entire focus of them doing a movie with super-powered child in the lead would shift it to being more a kid flick which changes the potential audience. Just because people in the States view DBZ as kidstuff doesn't mean that's the audience around the world. I really don't think they're looking at the Harry Potter audience of kid to adult. Maybe the kid to adult wrestling crowd. |

| From a release put out about a month ago, the movie is supposed to start with Gokuu at the age of 18 (and in high school There was first news that it was going to film in Canada, recently it was changed to filming in Mexico....I have a feeling it's going to turn out to be a huge trainwreck, but guess who's still going to go see it opening night? |

| Isn't that about how old Goku was in the segment with Raditz? It was the Tournament where he surprized Bulma saying he was 12 or so when she thought he was closer to her 16 (15?) I thought he came down to 17 at the start of that Tourni with Piccalo, maybe 16.
Don't forget ages in shonen titles are usually obscenely low-Luffy at 18 is pretty high. Look at Ash roaming the countryside with no parental guidance from about age 10. Look at all these Gundam pilots-15 yr olds who can fly better than 20-something pilots hwo have had yrs of experience. Saint Seiya most of the Gold Saints are under 20? OK. And so these guys even act like kids half the time? It's so easy to forget the YuGiOh group is school age the way they run around to all these tournaments (future poker sharks?). Someone else could probably find a timeline out there on Goku's age--I'm sure someone's figured it all out, but I don't think he was even 27 when he died fighting Cell. (Not that death stops anyone in DBZ) The dragonballs seem to be the biggest issue to me in the title. I could see shrinking Raditz or even skipping him. His appearance could signal a need for the heroes to train for the impending threat, but the dying & being wished back by the dragonballs seems to be a huge hurtle. I could see them being dropped entirely. They did become a major plot drag, & it would be just as easy to say it was Earth's time in Frieza's Universe take-over for Vegeta & Nappa to arrive as much as their coming for the balls. Without the initial story, the dragonballs seem to be a major plot drag, but they need something flashy to catch the public's eye if they ever want to go back & do Goku: The Early Years. Transformers has set up so they can go back & do prequels. |

Er...And Toby Maguire who was as skinny as hell actually took training to buff up for the Spiderman Character. I think if they were as buff as the cartoon, I would probably mistake them for using steroids. I don't expect them to look EXACTLY like characters, with perfect triangle noses and crazy ass hair. But as I said before, the DB fanbase is looking at Fox with scrutinizing eyes. >.>; I don't expect this to be an Epic Win, but I don't expect it to be epic fail either. And personally, I enjoyed Transformers. The thing that killed me, though... spoiler[Why did Jazz have to die, even a slightly "Stereotypical" Autobot had to be the only one killed in the movie. WTF...][/spoiler] |

I've read that article. How do we even know that's legit? Especially when we just barely found out who's going to be involved? We don't even know officially what's in the contents of the script yet. |

| It probably was planned for 2010, but the strike forced FOX to ramp up production. | ||||||||||
