judging from the pics and comments this isnt going be accurate to the manga/anime. from the pic with Chatwin walking in front of the yellow car:

This particular set is for "Unitech High School" where Goku will take classes. According to the site, the license plates of all the cars say "City Of The Future", while the cars themselves run on "solar cells". In the scene being shot, Goku is ridding a bike when the yellow sports car hits him.

looks like its going take place when goku is a teen (guessing after the end of db but before dbz but most likely not manga related) and no good can come from this if they plan to do a modernize rendition of it. please don't let this be like a disney/high school teen bop drama with martial arts added where goku is the clumsy naive kid, bulma is the rich girl, chi chi is the shy girl who likes goku, yamcha is the cool looking anti social guy, piccolo is the semi evil douche, and Pilaf is the evil genius. then the power of their martial arts come from the dragonballs...... Oh, Man, now I'm kinda worried. That guy in the orange shirt is supposed to be Goku? And he's in high school? Sounds like when Gohan went to high school and became SaiyaMan.. Embarassed ..

It looks like they're gonna give it the Smallville treatment-- he's even wearing orange, like Tom Welling always wears red and blue. I hope they don't make Goku and gang as annoyingly angsty as everyone on Smallville!

When I heard they were gonna make a live-action DBZ movie, I had my fingers crossed for Jet Li. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone on the cast list except James Marsters-- too bad he'll be hiding under all that makeup.

I'm so anxious to see how things turn out!

(After looking at the pictures some more) Ya gotta admit, though... that boy is mighty fine.

Gotta admit, this might seem obsessive, but for all the talk of being "close minded" it seems like it is the casting people being close minded by pussing out on an opportunity to have an Asian lead.

It's kind of ironic too, considering how liberal and progressive Hollywood thinks it is.

No it's supposed to just be Dragonball but people are obviously too used to adding the Z

Where are the pictures?

In 2010 there will be a sequel.

That sucks that it's starting when he was a teenager. I liked the eariler episodes. Hopefully, the movie doesn't follow the pacing of the anime. DBZ's pacing was worse but DB was pretty slow.

For some reason, I just don't trust that site, I'll look for other resources.... >.>;;

Liiiike these.

(link was posted before, btw. Just saving the hell of searching back again)

o_o; Goku doesn't have long spiked hair, but I rather this than something unrealistic. *thinks for a moment.* I would reallly like to see how they do this. Though people will already moan and whine about it, I'll hold my thoughts further until I see more production photos.

But Goku going to high school? THAT is what I find a little funny. Weeee....Hmm...feels like deja vu.

But "Caucasians from space" does make sense to you? You might want to re-think that one.

The altering of the story doesn't bother me,what bothers me is they will probably use the same generic CGI they used in Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle.People don't seem to know that Dragonball was already made into a live action movie.A horrible movie.

This is not the first live action rendition of Dragonball. Directed by Hong Kong directors Joe Chan and Leung Chung, "Dragonball: The Magic Begins" was released in 1989. Not a stellar seller, this movie is available for $13 on DVD and $4 on VHS (Bundled with another dB tape) from Amazon.com.

Shadowrun: Um, the cg in Shaolin Soccer and KFH was awesome. I'm more concerned with it looking like LXG.

Yeah care to elaborate? I mean, I'm always complaining that CG is fake; I think makeup and models and what have you will always have the upper hand when handled masterfully. Case in point: John Carpenter's The Thing. But the reality Stephen Chow pushes in his films doesn't necessitate that level of realism, don't you think?

Well, whatever. I think they're more likely to fudge up the fight scenes. Especially with the fast-editing style fight scene trend that has escalated to retarded proportions. If you look at something like Hero there were several actors (Tony Leung, Zhang Zhiyi) who weren't amazing martial artists or anything, but the right coordination of camerawork and choreography certainly delivered the illusion. I'd be pretty impressed if they took a page from that book, but its hardly expected.

Kung Fu Hustle was good to me, I didn't think the special effects were too overwhelming...

He's a good actor, but I wouldn't think of him as a perv, but Chow Yun Fat is apparently Master Roshi.

He was a slight perv in the Pirates 3 movie...

But hmm...I find this interesting. I can't see him as Roshi, though...

But they're certainly hiring a lot of Asian Actors... o_o;

Reading the news about this movie, I’m afraid that much of the background of Dragon Ball will be lost, and that is kind of disappointing. The last I read is that right now some scenes are being shoot in Coyoacan (Mexico City). I lived in that place, and I can tell you that it doesn’t look like anything I can remember from Dragon Ball. Total Recall was also filmed in Mexico City years ago and they someway managed to make the City look like a dystopian future, so right now the only thing I can do is wait for the final product..

Not in Coyoacan, in Santa Fe url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Fe_%28Mexico_City%29[/url]
Also I have heard that some scenes will be filmed in Durango, fliers for aplying as extras were given at my local comic books store. Anime hyper

As far I remember the Reforpan newspaper Laughing said it was being shoot in Coyoacan. To be specific in the Coyoacan Campus of Unitec University. You don't live in Mexico City, right?

The flyers bout being an extra in a movie sounds interesting, do they said how much they pay daily?
