| This isn't even going to make a dent on fansubbing unless it's made available to everyone, not just to the US and Canada. | ||||

| Only problem I'm having is that I can't find the full screen option.
Window fills maybe 1/5 of my screen. Everyone else who has problems have a fully updated Flash Player 9? Know I had problems on other sites until I manually updated mine. Right click -> About -> Player Download Center |

I really don't think that start button in the middle of the screen was there when I tried, but going back, I see it. I think they are working on it right as we speak, which is quite impressive to see such quick response time. As you said though, there are still issues with the subtitle timing not matching, but I'm sure they will address this. Other than that, my only issue are those nit-picky differences found in official subs and fansubs, such as "Team Gurren" vs "Gurren Brigade" and ""We stick to our crazy guns and kick logic out the door" vs "Go beyond the impossible and kick reason to the curb." Those are inevitable though, especially when it'll be dubbed, and are really easy ignore. Plus, there's always time to change those for the DVD, maybe not for dubs but at least the subs. Speaking of which, I'm really looking forward to February. |

And that's the point of DVD's & subscription services! ADV Films & The Anime Network aren't doing the First Look subs out of the goodness of their hearts. They want people to buy the DVD's when they come out. The tricky part is to provide content that more people want to own than there are moochers who will watch the whole series, but say "Buy it? Why?! I've already seen it." As a dub fan, I can't tell if the DVD will have a dub or not; the encyclopedia has no info about that yet. I may watch ep 2 next week, but I'd prefer a dub if available. Interesting, but I'm not excited enough to buy a DVD... yet. |

The DVD will be dubbed. There's no reason to believe it won't be; only rarely has ADV ever released sub-only DVDs, and this is a big show for them with broadcast possibilities. Of course there will be a dub. Common sense says so. |

If you go to the Japanese official site, you'll notice there are Gainax's official English spellings for the characters: http://www.gurren-lagann.net/ One box says "Team Dai-Gurren," so it's not much of a leap to assume that "Team Gurren" is the official term for "Gurren-dan" as well. Why would the official North American release change this to match the fansub? |

| I didn't think this show was particularly good or anything so I won't be watching it, but I hope this pushes things toward more internet releases in the future. | ||||

As I said, it's one of those nit-picky things that are inevitable for those who have grown accustom to something else. Change is jarring at first, after all. It is more official, but I preferred how Brigade sounded as opposed to Team. I'm sure as time progresses, I'll fall more into the new ones. It's not like it matters either way though. It's a decent translation, and it's not like I'm not buying these DVDs. In fact, I'm hoping ADV packs the starter sets full of stuff, like perhaps a core drill necklace. |

| I glad that a company is starting to take a less destructive and more slightly cleverer approach to the whole anime industry business besides attacking fansubs and their fanbase....
....but that doesn't matter because watching the beginning of the legend known as SHIIIIMOOOOOON THE DRILLLAAAA!!!!! all over again is making me start to cry manly tears. [Bolding the entire post doesn't add any emphasis ~Zalis] |

| What? Compared to other mediums, anime companies leniency has been extraordinary. | ||||

| Other than the aforementioned problems with streaming and mistimed subs here and there, I found watching the first episode of Gurren Lagann enjoyable. I hadn't seen it until just today and I'm already convinced by the first episode it'll be worth following. I have so many "to buy" anime, though, this will probably be put somewhere towards the bottom of the list. But if they continue to stream episodes, I'll continue to watch them. | ||||

| huge respect to ADV for stepping up to promote this series. more companies need to follow their example. | ||||

| Awesome idea. They still need to work out some kinks (choppy, can't really fast forward without it just ceasing to work), but I'm sure with time they'll get it working smoothly. I can't wait for the DVDs to come out, I refuse to watch this show streamed, and I'm interested to hear the dub. Either way, awesome idea, awesome show. Awesome! | ||||
