So many people complain about the repetitive stories in Hell girl and yet there is such praise for Mushi-Shi which, up to it's fourth DVD anyway, is entirely episodic...
You'll argue that Mushi-Shi is so good because of the atmosphere it evokes and the animation and artwork and music, etc.
Hell Girl evokes an entirely different atmosphere, I can't help but get caught up in each and every sequence of events in a highly sadistic way...I tend to imagine how I would get my retribution, torture and all. Keeps me highly involved with the stories regardless of repetition.
As for animation quality...well I don't know, nor do I care, about what makes 'good' animation...Hell Girl doesn't have any stand out bad animation that I can remember and everything seemed to flow well.
Artistically I really like Hell Girl. And musically...again I don't care, it does it's job well enough to allow me my sadistic fantasies, I couldn't name or even recognise a song as being from HG but that is entirely irrelevant to me. |

| I think you make a very good point. I've been rather slow about watching both series due to the episodic nature. But when I watch them in small amounts it still seems enjoyable. I'm glad I posted in the forum about Hell Girl and got that recommendation. I'm so used to watching all the episodes on a dvd as soon as I get it that it never occurred to me that some shows simply shouldn't be watched that way. |
