Though it's in the hands of a crappy distributor, Yotsuba&! is a great manga for all ages. I'm glad to see it getting this kind of recognition.

I second that! It's definitely hard to find on store shelves - almost nobody carries it - but I love this series, its great!

I had no idea it was even available in English.

Seriously? You weren't even aware of the bitching after ADV put it on a near-two year hiatus after volume three?

Though they've gotten their manga division together recently, and after pumping out volumes four and five last year, volume six is coming out late February.

Glad to see Yotsuba&! getting its due over here. It's simply a fantastic manga.

Really? In every single book or comic store I've been in they have every volume in multiple quantities. If you can't find it, it's probably because it's selling out. The series is ridiculously popular, actually. And I see it everywhere.

I can testify to that- I've seen it at Kino in NYC, and at Borders and Barnes & Nobles both there and on the island.

I only started on it recently, though- before that, I hadn't heard anything about a two-year hiatus. Is it possible some new development caused Del Ray to bring more attention to it? Maybe an anime has been commissioned? Or perhaps it's been identified as the heir apparent to Azumanga? Or... I dunno, maybe it just took a while for the word to spread about it? Like, say, the Big Lebowski or something?

Just for clarification, Del Rey does not release Yotsuba&!. It's released by ADV's manga division. I think the reason they stopped the hiatus is because they finally got their acts together again. Almost all of their manga series were on hiatus for at least a year (except what, Angelic Days?) and some series were sold off to other licensors as well.

As for the person unable to find Yotsuba&! anywhere, I find that a little surprising. I've found it in just about every major bookstore I've been to in Indiana.

Hooray for Yotsuba&!!! I love it.

I'm a little confused about why Emma got nominated for a children's literary award in the first place. It's like when Jethro Tull got nominated for a heavy metal award a few years back. Emma is rated 16&up and has adult situations, full frontal nudity, etc. Don't get me wrong - I've been a fan since volume 1 - but I don't think it's meant for children. Maybe young adults, although I run a manga club at a middle school and the kids loooove Yotsuba&, but none has ever got past volume 1 of Emma.

Oh well. I guess that's why it didn't make it to the finals, eh?

The award is from "The Children's and Young Adult Bloggers' Literary Awards Committee". I imagine they thought it was suitable for young adults.

Gon is rated "teen" (for graphic animal-on-animal violence) so CMX obviously don't think that's suitable for younger children either (though personally I don't think there's anything worse in there than you might see on any TV nature documentary).

What's wrong with it just being a manga?
