I must be an old fart. I don't get why anyone would want video media or manga / comics on their cell phone. It's a crappy little screen. I'd rather carry a damn book with me. If I want digital media, video or comics, on the go then I'd have a laptop.
Also, "first-time manga movies"? Wow. They really are twisting the term 'manga' now. Funny, I didn't think manga was animated. What are they doing? Manga slide shows, maybe with sound? That's pretty lame.
Then again this isn't the first time TokyoPop's forced a square peg into a round hole. They also had radio drama like adaptations they dubbed 'MangaCasts'. You know, I think their slogan should be, Manga is anything we can make a buck on. |

| My iPhone has a screen that's just large and clear enough to be useful for video, say if you're stuck in an airport or something, but the network it's tied to (AT&T's Edge) is too slow to carry anything remotely like video. You can't even download an iTunes song over Edge. Meanwhile, I have to make do with a poor quality speaker and below-average signal. Some day cell phones will be so advanced that....they'll work like an actual phone. Won't that be a grand day? A phone that works like a phone. Wow, what a marvelous age that will be. |
