After numerous incidents over the past year, and various complaints from ANN readers, and ANN staff, I've decided to request that everyone be a bit more polite and respectful in the forum.
Therefore, I'd like to ask that everyone be more courteous when talking to, or about the other members of this forum, as well as Anime News Network's staff. One of the key issues that has been brought to my attention, is that both readers and writers have been personally attacked as a method of dismissing their opinions. When responding to what another person has written, please focus on what they wrote, and respond to that. It is perfectly acceptable to disagree with a person, however you should base your disagreement on facts related to the issue, not insults, accusations or other attacks on the writer's character. Let me make this perfectly clear, when it comes to the material that ANN posts, we accept and welcome corrections and criticism, as long as the criticism focuses on the content. Criticizing a writer based on some aspect of the writers identity is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. In addition, let me make it clear that this request is also being made to ANN's staff. Should anyone have any issue with how they are treated by a member of the ANN staff, or a moderator, please PM me directly about the problem.
