Music is a completely different beast from video. The quality difference is acceptable to most users, the file sizes are small enough to be trivial, and it's easily portable. Video, on the other hand, requires much more space to be comparable to real HD quality (so storage and transit time are issues) and is riddled with DRM. |

Quite true, although, I think I remember reading an article stating that Paramount had actually heavily prepared the Blu-Ray release, but was canceled due to the HD-DVD exclusivity, so it wouldn't be that far fetched to think that the Blu-Ray release is set so that it can go to the presses for a quick release. Although, I'll wait for the official announcement aswell. Hopefully this version will have scenes that were edited for time that weren't included in the September Imax Release. |

I'm not sure I should post this because I don't want to start an off-topic discussion. But I still think we are a far ways away from moving the legitimate media industry to the Internet. I would bet that legal paid online MP3 downloads account for hardly any revenue compared to physical CD sales. But of course it's to be expected that MP3 files are very "popular" online, when downloaded illegally. |
