Do you mean copyright holders not collecting on sale of used goods or something like yomidachi that was posted earlier:

If it's the first issue, I'm intrigued and would like to learn more about the issue. If its the second, then why not do what Japanese booksellers in my area have done - prohibit yomidachi?

This one hit home a little more because I'm unsure how I may be sounding about the issue. I know what I feel isn't outrage though my post may seem much more conspiratorial than I normal. |

Wait just a second here. I hate to argue this side but that's an unfair comparison. |
No, it's the same concept. The original manufacturer is in a sense, trying to get twice it's value in a product they produced. Even if it is a pittance amount, it's still double dipping.
Buy product new, and then get slammed down the road again for the product. The manufacturer can't double-dip like that!! |

But they aren't charging the same person twice. They're saying, essentially, that they should be able to charge an extra fee if you transfer the used product to another individual.
Well, it's moot anyway since all manga will be digital downloads in 50 years, and then it'll all be DRMed to your Kindle-pod. |

If BookOff begins to entertain this idea, publishers might begin seeking out exclusive deals to have their product sold to BookOff eithre from warehouse or from other chain stores (returned products, etc.), knowing that they'll get the kick-back. It could hurt operations of competitors who don't have an advantageous deal worked out, which will lead them to copy-cat measures and could end up resulting in higher prices. |
Like I said, MONEY. This is also a case of scapegoating, and now there's probably going to be issues now that will also tear at the more local used book stores. |
