| Man, that's a sweet line-up! I'd love to go for Ono. |

| That's too funny. I just bought and watched the first volume of SDFM. There was a commentary track where Monica Rial basically interviewed Mari Iijima for 20 minutes, and one of the things Mari said was that she considers herself a singer who did a little voice acting early in her career more as a hobby than anything else. The article paints the picture the opposite way, "Mari Iijima, who played Lynn Minmay in SDFM, and did something with music or something like that... will also be there!" |

I'd so love to go to this, mostly for Sonoda and Moriyama. |

Well, there was a point in time where she was sick of being remembered and recognized as Minmei. The wording though, should probably point to her anime accomplishments, especially such a well known character, seeing as Anime Central is, after all, an anime convention. She may consider herself a hobbyist with what she did with Macross, but her hobby project ended up becoming one of the pinnacle characters of the 1980s and anime fandom.
If she's going to do a concert while there, I cannot recommend enough going to it. I went to a performance at Anime Weekend Atlanta a couple of years ago and it was one of the best experiences I've had. Her original stuff is pretty good but her solo of "Ai Oboeteimasuka?", a song I just adore .... I can't even really describe how epic it felt to me.
As far as the other guests go, being a huge Project A-ko fan, I'd love to see Moriyama's panels and I think any panel with Sonoda would be fantastic; not so much a Gunsmith Cats fan but I've always loved his mechanical and character design contributions. It's a shame I'll have to miss this one because I have graduation parties to attend that weekend and I have a new job I have to start the following Monday. |

Oh. My. GOD. I am so stoked about this you have no idea. Sonoda? Moriyama? And Minmei herself, all in the same place?

Looks like Sonoda will have yet another chance to shoot *real* firearms.
Naw for real, I agree with everyone else, that is one hell of a line up. Would definitely go if I could. |

Macross is pretty much the only anime Mari Iijima has done. She was just a young up-and-coming singer doing a recording in the studio when she got shoved in to audition for Minmei. She didn't consider herself a seiyuu and would much rather be remembered as a musician and thus avoided seiyuu work. It wasn't till a decade later that she was able to reconcile with her dichotomy (heh, kinda like Leonard Nimoy reconciling with being forever known as Mr. Spock).
Anyways, Sonoda now isn't as popular as when he went to ACen a decade ago. That was such a big deal then. Hope he still have as much fun though. |
