Well, it's a really fun game. Sure, people tend not to like the formulaic aspect of the anime (and the blatant product placement). But it still was pretty popular in Japan and many other countries. Apparently, it's still rather huge over in Istanbul. Let's see where they go from here.

Wow guys, whats with the stuck-upness? Geez!

Personally i'm glad they're making a new series, From what i watched (series 1) it was a quality kids show that even had some older teens hooked. Be a bit more open minded guys, whats with the "to cool for school" attitude? Anime hyper Just be happy for it!

Yay Beyblade!

Those are not my problems with this anime, it's just hard for me to believe you can do battle with spinning tops that create whirlwinds and such and have it be anything but intentionally hilarious.

If that is what people are into, however, that's fine, I'm not knocking those who watch it at all.

and still it refuses to die. It's almost as if Takara-Tomy didn't care that people dislike it. I'm in a mood now. Bah.

This show isn't in your(or anybody who browses this site for that matter) target audience. You need to understand this show is for kids as are almost all other shounen(read: anime) titles.Think about that for a second, do you really think they care what this or other anime review sites have to say about it?

edit- site was having some problems Rolling Eyes

That's good for the companies I suppose. Painful for the rest of us though Anime hyper! Oh well. It serves its purpose; as a show for kids.

Your right on that. I am not even sure Bleach and Naruto combined make that much profit, much less Beyblade. Is Japan in a reccession as well? Because 200 million yen isn't something to sneeze at, so this makes one wonder.

Japan's not in a recession. They have largely recovered from the 1990s-2003 bubble burst, but they are no longer a first class economy.
(First class!=first world, by the way)

I think everyone arguing about whether the anime should be revived are missing the point. They're reviving the toy. Apparently Tomy thinks they can make money bringing Beyblade toys back. The anime is needed to advertise the toy.

So really, the quality of the anime is a secondary consideration. The only question Tomy cares about is whether the toy will be successful this time around.

Japan is not a Third World nation (by any stretch of the imagination).
Japan is not a Second World (i.e. Communist bloc) nation.
Ergo Japan is, indeed, a First World (i.e. developed) nation.

Metal? HA!

I used to play with real tops - y'know, made of wood wrapped around a huge concrete nail then spun by wrapping and whirling a fiber cord around it! Laughing

who on earth would bother watching subsequent seasons of a horrible show, having pegged the first as "worst ever"? note the difference in number of votes.

I don't know that I could vote beyblade "worst ever" anyway. I watched it when I was a bit younger (Though I was still probably above the target audience age... ehe) and it was watchable just because that characters were interesting.

Not that I'm saying "Go new season of beyblade". I can't imagine how that show could have gone on for so long and still been remotely interesting. I mean, when it comes down to it... they're friggin tops.

If Tomy wants to bring back another toy selling show, I vote Zoids.
...But not until I'm finished watching the last two Zoids shows. Razz

Yay Beyblade!

I have to agree with Kriffix. Everyone here is being way too stuck up. Did anyone actually watch Beyblade?
I have seen the first season of Beyblade, and in my opinion, it is quite good. The only bad thing is that is is edited and does not have a Japanese track. Other than that, it really is good. So what if it doesn't have the best ratings on Anime News Network? Neither does alot of anime. Not that many people rate the anime on here. I don't. And in Japan, the manga and anime were quite popular as well as the toys. By the way, for those who don't know, Beyblade is based off an old top game called koma, which was a spinning top much like the beyblades, except that they were primitive. Put it simply, it was a bare beyblade, with a string cord that you would "rip" much like the more modern koma i.e. beyblades, but instead of trying to knock the others down, you had to see whose koma spun the longest. It was brought to Japan by Korea, and only rich people in Japan got to use koma.
I also found out that in season 3, Beyblade G Revolution, there is more violence and even blood. Funimation even rated the last two uncut DVD releases of Beyblade G Revolution, TVPG, the same rating Case Closed gets. And if you've even seen Case Closed, you can see why it has a TVPG rating. Its not all kiddie stuff.
While I do actually like Beyblade, (among many other anime series), I will admit, I am not looking forward to this new 4th series. Why wait that long to make another season? Without even a manga to work with? Are they even gonna have the same characters? Will the same characters be the same as they've always been? Will they end up being grown up? Will there be a completely news cast? Besides the first aspect, the rest will just tear down the series. If I would choose to watch the 4th series, it will only be if the same characters come back, and are the same as they've always been. Other than that, I really would like to know why after all this time, they would make a new series. Its like with Slayers, that one is getting a 4th series also, and Slayers ended back in 1998. The truth is, it is too late to make sequels of any anime that came out 4 or more years ago. Unless they make a movie or OAV, making another something-plus episode series for any anime that came out way back then, is just lame.

I agree with Dark Elf Wrrior Beyblade was a very good show, however on acouple of thing sI Disagree wiht I would like to see Beyblade come back, but only if it is comeback with the origianl Cast memebr not some new ones like they have done with Digimon (Can you say power Rangers ) Series like this were they change the cast every season these shows just need to be ended,. COuld understand if maybe the cast memeber s of Beyblade have grown up a little bit like in the previous seasons they were in middle school now maybe they could have them grown up a little in have them in High School now that I could undestand, but if they are going to bring Beyblade back and have it as a Whole new Cast then I am sorry I probably wouldnt want to see it come back. If that is the case then please just leave it alone, but hey If they are going to bring the old cast back then by all means go for I really don't think they gave this show a proper ending anyway and this would give them a chance to do that if they decided to keep it going for a few more seasons.

I'm kinda upset that everyone's bashing Beyable so much.......I mean, I doubt it'll catch on again but I'd still buy some mearchandise (sp?). Hell, I'm too old for it, I was probably a little too old for it when it first came out but it was a decent anime as far as anime aimed at 10 year olds go. And if it wasn't for Beyblade I wouldn't know anything about the bigger world of anime.
