Akira Ishida better reprise the role of Xellos or I'm going to be ticked 
In any case, I hope the Gourry becomes more of a beast in this one. I mean, I know Lina is the main char and all, but the power balance is WAY off. 3rd Season, Zel and Amelia could barely damage any of the top guys. I'm hoping I'd be like the first half of the first season, where Lina, Gourry, and Zel were all effective against the enemies they were fighting. |

I say they need to ignore the previous three series and start fresh, or at the very least give the sword of light back to Gourry...he needs that magical edge.
Xellos HAS to be in this and voiced by Akira Ishida, no substitute.
Amelia needs to die in the first episode with Phil replacing her.
And last but not least the villian should be Dynast, one of the remaining five subordinates of shabranigdu. |

| Lina's character design looks different. I don't know if I like it. I'm just glad the primary team is returning. No one, and I mean NO ONE can voice Lina like Megumi Hayashibara. To cast any one else would be a insult to the character, the series, and the fans. |

The problem though is that the troupe that voiced Slayers back in the days of Software Sculptors now work for 4Kids entertainment. So unless 4Kids licenses the series, don't expect Lisa Ortiz, Eric Stuart, and David Moo to reprise their roles.

As much as I like Slayers, why after 4 years, are they making a new series?
I'm glad Lina, Gourry, Amelia and Zelgadis will be back, and voiced by the same people, but what about Xellos? |

4 Years !!! It has been longer than 4 years Slayers Try aired back in 1997. 2nd ova set: Slayers Excellent in 1998, and the last movie Slayers Premium came out in 2001.
I believe that they are making another series of it because it was popular back then , and still is popular among anime fans now.
Slayers is another one of my all time favorite anime.

Considering the main cast is the same, and Akira Ishida is still doing voice work, I'd say it's quite likely that he'll reprise his role.

While I am excited about the new show, I can't be too excited. Lina won't be Lina without Ortiz. I stomached the movies. But the series itself won't be the same.
I hope theres something they can do to get Ortiz, Sturat, and Moo. ...and whoever else I forgot. I'm sure Freeman will probably be a shoe in. |
