I mean it when I say that this is one of the worst mecha anime to come out since Gundam Seed Destiny, on par with Dragonaut for lack of anything actually happening and horrid use of characters. Even the mecha combat left something to be desired considering the main character just hops into a mecha she happens to find and it owns up the entirety of the other side single handedly for some reason while the other pilots on her Union side are falling to automated drones without even bothering to pretend to put up a fight. God just thinking about this series now reminds me of just how much it frustrated me.

Oh, you noticed that, too? All this show ever had going for it was its rapid-fire fanservice, and if that's what I really wanted, I could get it better from hentai.

Sucko no Good.

Can I get a hint as to when Ouran will be on the shelf? Although, I'd settle for a simple cast list.

wow

Funimation must have some serious capital to finance all these licenses at once...

i remember back in the good ol' days when ADV did same thing back in mid 90's...

how i miss those days when anime were new and fresh....

(man i'm getting old)

If this makes you feel better, I still remember the first time Funimation aired Dragon Ball on American television.

But in a serious note, I have no idea why Funimation licensed Shuffle, Suzuka or Rumbling Hearts, none of them resemble a shonen show. Even though Suzuka has a decent theme song, I am stilll a bit surprized.

Well, this is just my speculation on those shows that you mentioned, TT, but:

Suzuka -- Definitely shonen romance. Plus I'm guessing the manga has been fairly successful on both sides of the Pacific, so that would have made the anime a decent license.

Rumbling Hearts -- Maybe they were looking to diversify their product portfolio? This was out considerably before Suzuka, after all, and I can't recall any other shonen-eqsque romantic series in their lineup. Not to mention it was only a 13 episode series, so financial risk was mitigated with it.

Shuffle! -- In a lot of ways, this show was money in the bank, imo. Having said that, Funimation has previously stated they have been suprised by the success of the series at retail, so...maybe they wanted a show to compete with Kanon/Air? Can't really say for sure on this one.

CW?
CW as in that TV network that used to be the WB, as in "Tonight we present you on the WB, another bad show that no one will see! *Oh, I need a drink*" That's my guess, anyway. Because it's probably not "Conventional Wisdom" like in Newsweek.

To avoid a space-wasting quote, I'll just say that I agree with 90% of Kaioshin_Sama's post. When I think of SnS, the words that come to mind are "decent, watchable, tolerable," not "high-quality anime." Fortunately, it's worth buying for the shower scenes, shoujo-ai elements, and shoujo-ai elements during shower scenes.

Oddly enough I too agree that was actually the highlight of the series. Wouldn't make me buy it though.

It wasn't a great series by any stretch and I was a bit disappointed in where it ended up going, but it was decent and the one Funi license from this week (excluding anything that they may also announce tomorrow) that I will actually be getting.
