| Quote: | | Some of the books on the company's release calendar for the rest of 2008 include Jiro Taniguchi's award-winning Quest for the Missing Girl and Distant Neighbourhood, as well as Kan Takahama's Awabi. |
Actually, Awabi has been put on hold until 2009 and I think the same is true of Distant Neighbourhood.
I got an email from Stephen Robson (who owns Fanfare) a couple of days ago in which he mentioned his upcoming releases for 2008 would be:
Quest For The Missing Girl
The Times Of Botchan Vol. 4
My Mommy (not manga)
Oh, and Disappearance Diary, which should be out officially very soon - pre-release copies are already floating about (I got hold of it a couple of weeks back). |

| So I am a little confused. Are these titles that currently are or are not available in the US? Or are these the ones that were only available in US specialty stores? |

Fanfare's titles have been "available" in the US for years, but their print runs were so small (a couple thousand copies I believe) and these titles had extremely limited distribution in both bookstores and comic shops, so as a result their audience has been limited to hardcore fans.
This deal has been in the works for a while, and hopefully it doesn't end up failing like the deal with Biblio did. Best case scenario is they sell enough books and are able to hire some actual employees (right now its just Stephen Robson and some part-timers I believe). |
