Looks like Tokyo Pop is struggling still. I wouldn't be surprized if this company merged with another manga company like Viz Media did.

Hopefully the dropped titles were the titles that weren't selling.

as long as this doesn't screw up the Fruits Basket release, then it will be sorted out in time. but who would they emerge with?

I really doubt they will mess up the Fruits Basket release, since that is probably their number one manga, and they should be concerned with it ending soon and what is going to replace it.

What I'm worried about are their 12 Kingdom novels. As far as I know Viz doesn't do novels (yet), and if they screw over the Taiki story again (since the anime never resolved it), I will be extremely disappointed.

I also was looking forward to more novels coming over, like Baccano!, but now, I'm not so hopeful.

EDIT: okay, well, so Viz does do novels occasionally. That's good. I really do want someone to pick up the Baccano! novels (and the anime).

Viz does do novel releases. I know for sure they were releasing the Fullmetal Alchemist novels.

I know I shouldn't worry about Fruits Basket since it is their best selling release but I will worry until the entire series is in my hands. It's so close to finishing too.

I want a list of the books affected... I have a feeling The Queen's Knight will be axed. Sad

Seconding a call for a list of affected series. I hope Tactics isn't on it, I don't want Tokyopop to be the second distributor to have to drop it D:

I'll be surprised if they release one. If they did, it would probably just sink sales of the already-published volumes. Why pick up a series if you know it won't continue?

Right now the only TokyoPop series I'm collecting are Fruits Basket and TsukuYomi MoonPhase. Fruits Basket is safe, and if MoonPhase is selling, it might be continued.

Still not much info but on animeondvd.com, one Tokyopop translator stated that the Gosick, Missing, and the Chibi Vampire novels are going to be canceled. It seems like the novels are going to be hit pretty hard, at the moment not much other info is out.

I second this. :(

I'm pretty sure it's almost done though (I think it's 7 volumes?) and volume 4 is out already. I can't see them cancelling it with three volumes left. :)

It's nine volumes, and volume 5 will be out tomorrow. They should be working on volume 6 this month, and they received the adaptation for volume 7 a few weeks ago.

Gah! I kinda liked that one. Sad face.

I hate to say it but I'm actually a little relieved about this news, because I've always felt overwhelmed trying to keep up with all their new releases (and a lot of times I had to go "screw it, I just don't feel like reviewing this").

If the problem is about stores not stocking stuff, can't they just move some of their novels and the lesser selling manga to online distributors only? I mean, I understand not wanting to ship them to stores where they won't sell, but they shouldn't alienate fans by completely cutting out the stuff we want.
