Teriyaki: I think Dragon Quest is Toriyama's greatest work.

Though I am a avid fan of Dragon Quest, only one Dragon Quest series has yet to be licensed.
So that is why I belive Dragon Ball is Akira Toriyama's best licensed series.
Dragon Quest is awesome, I have always enjoyed that series. |

I say this is pretty awesome indeed! Most of my favorite series are done by Viz, so this could be some pretty exciting stuff, especially if they can find the right people to do some of those said series. Plus that and this is just one step closer to me finally getting to see a series of Naruto live action movies at some point! |

Dr. Slump and Dragonball have been Mr. Toriyama's greatest works since he started, I doubt he'd want his series to be mocked by Hollywood.
Though if Viz Media is involved in the movie, then this movies stands a chance. I've always enjoyed and thought highly of Viz Media for several years now. |
Do you really think the Hollywood producer can get a go ahead without Toriyama Sensei's approval? Now, I'm not sure if Toriyama sensei has any involvement in the actual production of the movie. But he definitely wasn't against the idea of have a Hollywood adaptation of his beloved work....... Yes, it could be just a money factor.......... but if the creator said yes, why are we still keep on complaining about a movie that hasn't even been made!
I'm not saying it will be a great movie for sure. But can we not be soooooooooooooo negative about any anime titles that are being adapted to a live action Hollywood movie??? We haven't even seen the finished product. Just because Speed Racer was suck (I haven't seen the movie. My comment is just based on reviews that I have read), it doesnt mean all the anime movies that follow will suck too.
Afterall, live action is the best way for an anime title to gain exposure and generate money. With the current situation of the anime industry, this could be a very good way to save it.
Please have faith. You can always hold your judgement until you have watched the movie. |

To quote my recollection of the clip of Charlie Wilson's War ... Tradition, mostly. |

I do believe when FOX went to get the rights to develop a movie on DragonBall, that they sent Representatives to Japan to get Toriyama's blessing. I do recall that, if I'm mistaken, than sorry.
As for the rest of this topic; I don't like Viz, from all the R1 companies, they are my least favourite, for they are only one [really big] step away from being what 4Kids was. They are license hoarders, they license something with the showing the public the intention to release it, than they don't. They don't take many, if any, risks on their anime distribution side. And everything they license will sell because it appeared in Jump, are popular series like InuYasha, or are based on a popular franchise. |
