| ADV had a hard time selling ARIA because they stupidly did not get the rights to AQUA. So, anyone trying to read ARIA basically had to start on Vol. 3 of the story. |

| Good thing Loveless is the only manga I buy from Tokyopop anymore, but then again... well, there is a Blu series I had gotten into, hopefully it doesn't cancel... but... oh well, I'm not a big fan of it anyway. Just don't cancel Loveless and I'm good. |

Lucky for me that I haven't been collecting any TokyoPop titles for ages now. Though, there are a couple of series by them that I'm still trying to finish... they're just older series now and the remaining volumes are getting hard to locate.
Out of everything on that list, the only one that interested me was Suppli. I own the first volume already, and it was good.. but I had been stalling on getting the second volume since I'm trying to cut back on my manga buying and I'd rather continue some of my diehard love series rather than buying more volumes of a series I'm still kind've "eh" on. For the best I didn't now, if they are going to cancel it.
I'd only really be concerned if something happened at Viz since nearly all the titles I collect anymore are in the Shoujo Beat line. Though, titles such as Ouran and NANA I'm sure are pretty damn popular... so there shouldn't be much to worry about on that front.
Anyway, I do feel bad for the people who were collecting series that are being cancelled now. It's like how I felt when Geneon went down the pooper and I won't get to finish some series I was collecting or looking to collect. |

| I know it's nessesary for them to stay in business, but I feel Tokyopop just finished shooting itself in both feet by doing this. I collect about $600 of manga a year. They won't be getting any of my money now since I can't trust them. |

| I'm also disappointed about Suppli. |

However in this case, only the economy and people not buying are the main problems. |
Economy - yes, but you are really naive if you think people reading in the stores, borrowing books from the libraries or downloading scans affect book sales in the slightest. You buy the book if you find it interesting enough to re-read, to enjoy it in its fullest in a comfortable atmosphere of your toilet, to read it during travels or to lend it to a friend.
If you lose motivation to buy a book after knowing what exactly you are buying - then something is definitely wrong with the book itself; it should either be cheap enough to throw away after reading it once or good enough to be worth the price even after you've already read it.

I think Tariyaki Terrier is reffering to manga cows who don't buy books in bookstores because they read them for free. The usual person who downloads scanlations will buy the series but there are some cheapskates who refuse to buy manga because they can get it for free on the internet. Those people are hurting the manga industry.
It says only Diamond Comic Distributors canceled some titles so maybe that company isn't doing too well. I guess it's because more people are buying books from the internet and not the old fashion method of going to the local comic book store. |
