No fanservice whatsoever. Yeah right. Now, before you say "I ignore loli and assassins-dressed-as-maids but focus on other redeemable elements of the series instead," so would fans of TMoHS, and I can assure you some fans of CRS are attracted by its heavy use of maid uniforms.
How about Aiko Tanaka? I'd say that birdy thingie would disagree with you and think she's quite moe. |

Hush, you! Seriously, though, maybe there are some other dimensions of moe that I'm ignorant of, but I'd like to think of that concept and "cute" and "amusing" to be different things. (Or, in Punpun's case, "beautiful" and "terrifying.") I just tend to associate moe with direct pandering to instill a sense of parental protection (or something akin to it) in the reader/viewer by way of making the character(s) charming with archetypal anime quirks, yet not having much else in the way to define said character(s). Really, "birdy thingie"? Punpun would be crushed. |

I dunno, I consider calling someone a teenage virgin who whacks off to cartoons, just because he happens to enjoy a certain series, to qualify as a personal attack. It certainly isn't a flattering thing to accuse someone of being, at the very least.
I actually have read the entire thread. And you are right, you do have the right to have your opinion of Haruhi, but considering the fact that you've never actually seen it, maybe you shouldn't have decided to bash the show (and it's fans) the way you did. Like I said, you have every right to do so, but don't be surprised when people are going to react the way they did. There are plenty of anime I won't watch, that I know I won't like, but if there's a discussion about the show, I would most likely stay out of it, because I don't really know anything about it. For example, I know I wouldn't like the series "Fist of the North Star" but I wouldn't go into a thread discussing it and say "This show is nothing but muscle bound men beating the snot out of each other and panders to over aggressive men with anger problems" For all I know, the show may be nothing like that. I could be totally wrong about it, simply because I've never actually watched it. And hey, I'll admit, fan service is there for the sex appeal, pure and simple. People like to see cute girls in cute outfits. But just because a show has fanservice in it doesn't mean that's what the show is entirely about. And I think that's the case with Haruhi - it does have the fanservice there for people who enjoy it, but there is plenty of stuff in the series there for the people who don't. |

In fact you didn't. You replied, but you dodged the questions (mine and later calawain's, and now with HellKorn's). Never mind then. I don't expect you giving me a direct and logical answer anyway (shrug). |

Hey guys this is exactly the sort of thing we asked you to stop doing months ago. Please knock it off, I don't care how high-minded you think you're being about it. |
