The thing about them dubbing outside of 4Kids is up for debate (but I don't want to a heated discussion about it) but I remember reading weeks back that a recently formed licensing company in New York will be doing the upcoming dub of a Ashita no Joe OVA and they will have some of the people that do work for 4Kids. This includes the voices of Yugio Motou and Ash Ketchum (the real dub voice. Sarah Natochenny maybe good to the eyes but her new Ash voice is bad to the ears), Dan Green and Veronica Taylor, respectively.

Enoki Films blew this press release. This is NOT what Slayers REVOLUTION will be about. The summaries in this release describe the first and second parts of the Slayers novel series.

Here is the official REVOLUTION Web site.

REVOLUTION takes place after TRY. The first episode begins with Gourry and Lina trying to find a new sword (he gave the Sword of Light up in TRY). Official statements have said it's going to more or less follow the second half of the novels, which would be the second summary Enoki provided.

Slayers Revolution is not a remake in any way.

I'd say it'd be difficult without a re-release of the earlier seasons. There are a lot of current fans who have never seen them, and it doesn't help that Revolution is a direct continuation.

FUNimation just re-released the first three seasons.

Funimation just did a re-release of all the past three seasons just this year, so there really shouldn't be a problem releasing the new series here.
Plus, you'd be surprised, there are some Slayers fans looking forward to the new series, if only just for the sake of nostalgia.

Edit: Oops, for some reason I thought it was Media Blasters that re-released it, not Funimation. Sorry!

Do we know how the re-releases are selling? It's FUNimation that re-released all 3 TV seasons by the way not Media Blasters.

Lisa Ortiz is the way to go! I hope they can bring her and the rest of the New York cast for it.

I buy all 3 tv seasons in FUNimation and are good, but the extras are poor..., nothing amazing actually.

a mexican who don't speak english so well like me think that the ADV Films Staff is better than the Central Park Media Staff.

Lisa Ortiz are good but Cynthia Martinez is very good too.
well, both gourry's are good

the thing is the voice of Amelia(Veronica Taylor) and Xellos (David Moo) are so bad, very horrible, for cry about it.

I hope FUNimation could get this anime for good.

saludos.

Can someone clarify. I'm not certain what Enoki Films' role in this is. Are they just acting as a middle man trying to get a US company to license the series? So if someone were to pick it up they'd pay Enoki a finders fee or something?

If this is right, I didn't even realize there was a market for a middle man in anime licensing.

Most Japanese studios are small and couldn't be bothered to pull resources marketing their films overseas. So, they use outfits like Enoki Films to deal with trying to sell in their place. Think of it like a talent agency.

I hope they can get the New York cast. I understand they tried to get the NY cast when they were doing Slayers Premium but could only get Crispin. I have heard/seen clips of the cast of Premium and I'm sorry but only the New York cast should do it. This happens occasionally: the controversial voice casting change.

I hope so too, but I remember reading something along the lines of they can't dub outside of 4kids. If I can find the article...
