| Even if it is just a re-release with a new interface for the DS, I am still in WANT mode for my favorite RPG of all time. |

Eh. I played it, I loved it, I beat it(over and over again). I didn't begin to really like the company because of remakes(Ok, you could argue ALL the final fantasies just build upon eachother and get away with it), but because of original works that stood next to their super long running franchises.
I'm sick of seeing so many releases of new games, I'VE ALREADY PLAYED! =/ |

Yes, you've played it, but think of the literally millions of current gamers who haven't, and the untold amount who have yet would love to play it anew. Now, I'm not an RPG fan in the least, so I don't have a personal interest in this game, but I'm tickled pink that it's getting re-released after all these years, since I've heard again and again how beloved it is by the gaming community at large. Now a whole new generation of gamers will get the chance to experience it. |

Hmm... I can kind of see your "overhaul" point, but at the same time I don't really agree... particularly with the "silent hero" thing.
It wasn't that the game was such a smalltime thing that they didn't have room to give the protaganist a speaking role. It was a fun character quirk. It gave the other characters a chance to take center stage and be just as awesome as your main character. Chrono Cross was the same way. It was a PSOne game with a silent protaganist. I don't think that was because it was a smalltime thing at all. I think it's cute and endearing. |

Completely true. But how many new game releases do they put out? I don't know, maybe more than I'm thinking. I am not saying it's bad to rerelease the game, but what happened to actually making NEW games that could be just as great? Everything I hear about now is a FF remake and spinoff. I get it, they make money, but...just try something else AS WELL as those. They're not dead in the water, but it's turned into just another company for me. They can put out some good stuff, but most of it is just more of the same(literally). |

I wouldn't know, since the only Square-Enix game I've ever played (and most likely will ever play) is Einhander. But it's not like they're the only fish in the sea. There are always plenty of other games being created by plenty of other companies; surely something else somewhere has the potential to catch your fancy. |

I'm interested to know what the new dungeon is all about, though I doubt I'll buy it since I'm currently happy with my PSone edition.
I hope their decision to release this hints that they are going to port/remake other SNES classics in the future, I've been wanting to play Secret of Mana for the longest time. |

No offense but that's not the point. I suppose if ALL the people that made the majority of games I like have left for other companies, that answer would suffice.(I know some have left, I doubt all, and I don't have any actual figures or facts on the matter). It's like loving Gainax for some decent productions and very strong anime every few years, or BONES, or KyoAni and then watching them do spinoffs and merchandise and "remaster" the series on dvd and then air it again with like added episodes of 7.5 10.5 and 27, etc etc(Looking at you Eva). Yes there is plenty else out there and I have never been a die hard square enix fan(except for maybe a few years when I only had genesis and SNES), but I used to look forward to their games and I miss that feeling.
Maybe I'm just being very selfish or maybe they're just not that great of a company anymore, I don't know.
And I think I just got it. "Chrono Trigger Returns- The Timeless Classic" Heh. Funny coincidence or someone that might need a better outlet for their humor |

I'm hoping for a PSN/PSP release, personally. |

Square-Enix has already released a bunch of PS1 titles for the PSN... in Japan. Chrono Cross may already be among them, I don't know. I just don't understand whey those titles aren't being released on PSN here as well. I'm hoping they will be eventually. *sigh* |

There's going to be a total of 12 titles, the first 6 released last week. I'm guessing the next set will be this coming week (PS1 games are released every two weeks in Japan).
Chrono Cross isn't one of them... yet. So far the only RPG is Xenogears. |
