I had a chance to speak with Ken Iyadmoi of BEI prior to the panel and asked about this release. He did have to check with another BEI employee for the details, but the tentative info is:
1) Will be released in separate volumes (movie 1 and then movie 2)
2) Will be getting new English dub (as opposed to using the old Streamline English dub from back in the day so keep your VHS copies if you are a hard-core completest)
3) No plans for a box for the set at this time
4) Though not yet solicited it is planned for movie 1 to be late Oct or early November 2008
Enjoy!! |

Who's to say they didn't try? CN looks like its done with Gundam, so the only other place to try it is Sci-Fi. |

I'm glad It's on Sic-fi, they put their anime on a better airtime than CN. I mean all their new eps are all after 12:30 on a Sat. Thats the worst time slot ever.
Oh well, At least I get to see my Code Geass which I'm so glad its coming to DVD as a boxset (I have very little money left). |

But two seperate volumes (one having 5 episodes and the other 4) being sold as well? What's the point in that? If a boxset is out already, everyone would just buy that, not seperate volumes. Did I miss something here? |
My impression was that this is not a true box set (in the conventional sense,) though saying there is a similar release pattern planned for the others makes me wonder. Not to mention TRSI's photos have lacked any and all depth perception (making volume counting boxes, or even keep cases, VERY difficult) for about a year now. Isn't this just an artbox+V1+V2+optional swag release, or is this more in keeping with their recent releases of Lim'ing almost every volume?
It does seem like a rather peculiar release pattern if they are going for singles+mini-sets+premium mini-sets. |

| thecapt: Thanks. Wish they kept the dub, but they're probably going to try to use the tv cast. |

Actually a while back some guy from CN answered to this. When asked about Gundam in general, they said they love giant robots and they have run tons of Gundam and other giant robot shows. None have quite hit the mark, despite the fact they know the audience is out there somewhere... apparently not watching CN or something. They weren't happy with pulling Gundam or IGPX, but you fun various iterations of Gundam, you run IGPX, and various others. If you lose money each time and/or don't have viewers, you do have to put an end to it at some point. |
