There's a fine difference between remake and sequel. I think Fullmetal Alchemist getting a remake would be epic!

i hope it's another movie, as the FMA series dragged on and got ridiculous. i haven't read the manga, but i'm hoping [if it's a remake] it wont be any 52 episodes.

FMA is one of my more favorite series. It was in no way dragged on at all. Every episode counted and aided in the story, even the filler episodes, which I also enjoyed. I have seen and rewatched it more than any other anime I've ever seen. However I have to say that the manga being better is totally dependent on which came first.

If you read the manga first, then watched the anime, of course you would like the manga better because that is the original story that you witnessed first. If you are like me and watched the anime without reading the manga, you would feel differently.

I did read the first few volumes of the manga, but I didn't really like the slight divergences in plot and character interaction. Sure they may have been more explanatory, but I felt the story was told in a much more simple tone that felt like it wasn't doing the series justice. But then again, I only read the first few volumes, so things could have changed later on in the series.

As for a second series, I'm a bit up in the air about that one. I am happy with the ending now. If anything was to be made, I wouldn't mind seeing how the Elric's lives are spoiler[on the other side of the gate], but that is about the extent of what should be told. I don't think there should be risk of ruining such a good series with an extended and dragged on plot.

I agree with you there. While some people would like to see how the brothers Elric fare in WWII, I think the movie pretty much wrapped up the anime story altogether.

Pretty much, BONES doing a remake is the only proper solution to any new FMA anime idea. I'd sure love to see Prince Ling animated myself. Smile

It's probably going to go nowhere like Berserk 2 and that Trigun movie.

Trigun X is coming out, ANN had an article on it a while back and theres posters about it in Japan at the movie theatres.

On the topic of FMA2, I think it'd actually be pretty cool. Not another 52 episodes or anything, just the normal 26, or even some OVAs would be cool. A manga adaption would take too long, i wouldn't want to go through all the beginning stuff again. A continuation would be nice, and perhaps just maybe... a little bit of a happy ending. Although the show wouldn't be the same without Hughes and Scar, but it can be done.

I'm also kinda half and half on FMA 2. As much as I like FMA and would like to see more of it, the movie(despite the ending) wrapped up the story. Unless they set the new series after the events of the movie, there'd really be nowhere else for them to take the story. The only really logical thing would be for them to create a new series animating the manga.

Eh, if it was made and licensed in the US, I'd likely end up getting it. Laughing

I would definitely love more Darker Than Black, it was such a good series and had a lot of untapped potential left

What I would do is... ignore the movie and pick up where the series left off. The writers did such a good job with the series that I'd be willing to give them a second chance on a second season.. assuming that the movie was not a part of the official TV universe.

I liked the movie. I saw it in theaters and was shocked that they both spoiler[ended up on the other side of the gate.] I thought it was a somewhat happy ending yet unresolved in their original world. If there could be a story, perhaps them finding a way back to Amestris would be the best bet?

The story ended happy for the bothers, but not for everyone close to them. So why not come full circle?

I also enjoyed the anime. I've (up to this point) read about 75% of the manga, and I enjoyed it very much. At times some of the music in the anime made me feel like I was playing a Square RPG (SE is the publisher of the mag FMA appears in).

While many seem on here to comment on Hoenheim and Bradley, I grew more interested about Marco and especially Mustang. I would hope if there was a "ultimate" version it would cover more on Mustang, his ambitions, and his relationship with Hawkeye.

Lastly, there is also light novel content (i believe there are 6 books) which could be used. It seems some of the stuff from the first novel was used in episodes 11 and 12 in the series.

FMA Manga> FMA Anime

Sorry but things just got so damn emo towards the end of the anime ugh. Don't get me started on the movie which wasn't even good.

Anyways anyone that is up to date with the manga knows that it's heading towards the end of the series so if there's a 2nd adaption no made up ending will be needed since by then it's likely the manga has ended.

I'd like a sequel where the Elric brothers spoiler[get back to their own world. ]Somehow. Or one that is faithful to the manga or whatever.

don't want a sequel? don't watch it if it comes out then. Neutral

Famous anime director Satoshi Kon has some very different view regarding this incident.
