[Short OT moment here]
While at the book store a very pretty girl came in and sat down in front of the manga shelves and started reading (much to Gary Steinman's chagrin). She was very pretty, very normal and polite, and she was NOT reading yaoi! See, there are sane fans out there! There's proof!
[end OT moment] |
So why didn't ya talk to her? |
Hmmm. How did you know I didn't talk to her? You aren't from NJ by any chance are you?
I wanted to talk to her, see which title she was reading, see if we liked the same stuff. I regretted my stupidity for the rest of the day, and, so far, all of today too. But it's not entirely my fault, I am not feeling 100% this week, so I'm not on the ball, here.
I'm hoping to go back there again soon, maybe bump into her again when I'm feeling better. Think I could be that lucky?
::sigh:: Yup, once again I feel like Charlie Brown. |

Dunno too many red-haired gals in Jeysey.
Why don't you ask the clerks? Maybe they know when she usually comes there.
Are we turning this into our own Train Man? |

Well she had dark brown hair. And we don't ALL say joisey, only the northern ones, the ones who are basically NY transplants.
Hmm, I guess I could ask the clerks... but I am not sure she buys, I think she just reads (reminds me of the Anime news Nina comic from a while back).
Lol, well, no Train Man here, since there are, thankfully, a shortage of drunks in B&N. But lord, I could sure use advice on this sort of thing (shyness is not unique to Japanese culture, to be sure). But that'd require it's own thread, methinks, before I anger the dark lords of the forums. I'm not one to hijack threads anyway, I just wanted to share my story, such as it was (read: lame). |

Oh well. Charlie Brown --> red-haired girl.

Yeah yeah, we know.

She doesn't need to be a buyer for them to notice when she usually drops by.
Why don't you offer to buy her some books?

Well, some gals make it harder than it really is. |

Well, I'm kind of uncomfortable about asking the staff when she comes in. That feels likes it's crossing a creepiness line that I don't want to cross. I'll try to show up the same time I was there last time.
I can't offer to buy her any for the same reason I don't by myself any. Long story there, but jobs in my field are a bit scarce around here lately.

True, some women do have that effect... but I didn't even give this one a chance to be difficult.
Back ON TOPIC for a minute This mag is good, but it is definitely a little light on actual content. I found all of it to be relevant, though, and Gary's style is definitely found throughout the magazine, giving it that NTUSA feel, with a lower price tag. JM2C. |
