I hope your joking.

That's not Bai Ling, that's Eriko Tamura, she is a Japanese actress, she was on Heroes and she even had her own anime, plus she provided the music for of animes. Of course she also did a movie called surf School, so I have to question her choice of projects.

Dueling rumors:

Dragonball Cancellation Rumors Not Likely

http://www.superheroflix.com/news/85/30785.php

The truth is probably somewhere in between.

After Speed Racer was met with semi-stellar results, I hope the DB movie is a Straight-to-DVD release.

According to our tipster, the higher-ups at Fox are not too impressed the footage that has been shot thus far

Wait, I thought they were done already! Man, if the trailer doesn't play in front of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" remake, you can bet it'll be delayed until at least the summer of 2009! It took FOX forever to get that Fantastic Four movie off the ground, too, and that had one of the simpler premises! I'm afraid to imagine what kind of truncated mess we'll be getting with DB.

Quote:
Now I have no idea if this is a real possibility or if the studio is just putting pressure on director James Wong to deliver, but the movie supposedly has a budget of over $100 million and I can understand them wanting to cut some losses while they still can.

Won't happen. They spent too much money on ads in Japan, and now they gotta deliver. If they don't, then Toriyama and/or Shueisha will probably sue for breach of contract. Of course, we could end up with a Crying Freeman-style situation where it plays in its native land and ends up on home video here, but there's too much money invested to do that.

Quote:
I for one am not impressed with what I have seen from the film and it seems I am not alone.

No one's seen anything from the film except some awful promotional photos and set pics! Unless you count some lame test footage.

The film was completed a while ago, and the reasons for moving the film's release date from this summer to next spring was to insure that all of the needed special effects were completed.

I'm not sure why it takes a whole year just to complete the FX, though...Hell, with that new Harry Potter out of the picture this year, it'd make more sense to sneak DB in theaters now!

Quote:
We have a source that is very close to the film. And he/she says that the first edit is done, and that it has been shown to those "higher ups" at Fox. And that they love the finished film.

But does that translate into something fans and/or general audiences can love? Rolling Eyes

Quote:
Everyone involved seems to think they have a hit on their hands, and he even went on to say that it was "pretty darn awesome. There is certainly talk about a sequel. I have no doubt that it will happen. I'm sure that it will be a trilogy."

Again, that's just studio spin. They were also hyping a sequel to Speed Racer a few months ago, and look what happened to that film!

Oh, and another Chung "interview".

I thought that the Filmjunk report was a little fishy too. How can they be saying that the film is in danger of being stopped for filming when all the filming has been completed? Gatsu's right, the Japanese are probably going gah-gah over finally getting their live action Dragon Ball, so the movie is definetly going to have to come out in theaters over there. I would actually be a bit disappointed if it didn't make it out over here too.
