That movie was terrible, but the novel was a great read.
Isn't Hollywood remaking the film? |

And since when is a CD coming out domestically (years later, without even corresponding to a movie release) news worthy? :p |

| I'd buy the soundtrack, honestly, but yes, I'm a little surprised at this. Wasn't the movie banned in the US or something? Or was that a rumor? I thought that there was no domestic release here for it. |

Toei allegedly had some pretty ridiculous demands to US releasers of the movie, seeing that the US Movie Market is one of the biggest in the world. Wide-theatrical screenings (i.e. no arthouse showings regulated to a few screens), astronomical cut of the profits, etc. etc.
In the end, no studio wanted to touch the film. |

In the end, no studio wanted to touch the film. | I doubt the film will ever be released in America. In addition to what you posted, who would promote the film? It would be a PR nightmare for even the biggest distributor. Sony, Warner Bros, even Viz or Funi wouldn't touch it. |
