It's a slow news day when an anime-centric site reports on anime in the news? |

| That should get them some attention. Since they've used the name of one of the most recognized characters in anime |

| I actually find it pretty neat when this happens, especially because it really helps make papers more interesting when the components of a pathway have interesting names. Sonic Hedgehog is probably the best known example, and it's funny to hear it be discussed in classes and textbooks.
Maybe it'll catch on and we'll end up with lots of pokemon-based gene names? There's enough out there we could definitely assign one for each pokemon. |

| Being and anime fan and a molecular biologist specializing in proteomics, this is so #$%^*@& cool you have no idea!!! I have to say though, it would be very difficult for me to decide what to name a newly discovered protein after... I have a lot of sources of inspiration. Oh, and don't forget what was once known as planet 10, named Xena, the Warrior Princess, herself. Not anime, I know, but entertainment oriented, nonetheless. (now it's no longer a planet, and no longer known as Xena) |
