Well, if Dentsu had been willing to do this with Geneon, it not only could still be around, but they would be like RightStuf/Nozomi Entertainment. Maybe Dentsu wanted Geneon to go under so they could do this... I dunno...

A lot of anime already has North American appeal it's just barely any of it ever shows up on mainstream Cable televison. Adult Swim for example, would have been a great place for shows like Black Lagoon, Afro Samurai, etc. The North American market is not that hard to please if done corrcetly, but when AS is only willing to purchase shows like Wolf's Rain(Which while very good is slow) or Paranoia Agent chances are it will not do as well.

Nothing like cutting off your finger to fix a cat's ear, then discovering you didn't need to do that in the first place. Rolling Eyes Problem is who's going to take the chance that Dentsu won't change their mind yet again.

Giant Dentsu doesn't wanna be just small Geneon - they're aiming to be a mainstream player not just in Japan but in the West too.

They don't just want to translate/adapt anime for the West; they want to make their own new East+West collaboration shows that would make big money internationally.
