I hope that it will be in the area so that I can go and watch it. I remember watching the original after hearing the hype about it, and I have to say that I wasn't disappointed. Hopefully this movie can live up to that expectation as well.

I gotta say, I didn't expect the Blood universe to be this enduring. I thought the franchise was going to stop with the original OVA. It doesn't even seem to be that popular.

Oh, you're right. It's not a foreign-language film at all. That better explains the wide release in the U.S. |

I already heard of some american actors in it so I assumed it would be in english. That's good it allows it to be more mainstream....Even though it could suck really bad I'm willing to give it a chance because I really want it to be good.

Blood is made for a Western production - a lot of it involves Western characters and settings (the American military, for goodness sakes).
Anyways, at least "Saya" is Asian, right? (Though it shouldn't really matter because of her true nature.) |

I didn't enjoy Blood the movie, so i'm hoping this one works for me a little bit more.

If I recall from the series, wasn't Saya spoiler[French or Icelandic or something? They weren't too specific on that. I guess we can assume she looks Asian for identification with the Asian audiences the OVA/series were originally created for?] |

I enjoyed the series more than the movie too (but I liked the movie). There were more characters (Haji ) and the music was great. |

"Saya" has no ethnicity. |

I'm guessing you haven't seen the original "Blood: The Last Vampire" animated movie. It was set in a US base in Japan, and there really are American characters involved.
She has the appearance of a young Japanese/Asian girl. spoiler[The school nurse (from the US Base) asked her "Aren't you Japanese?"] |

That's one thing I loved about Blood: The Last Vampire. It took cultures and blended it. At first I had thought Saya was Japanese, until finding out otherwise, but the guys who were playing the Americans weren't Japanese voice actors, for sure.

Actually, I've seen all of Blood anime. That's why I said what I said.
Eh, it seems like each incarnation of Blood is its own storyline, so not so serious about what happened in the anime movie vs the TV series where she was born in France (interestingly she wasn't given a French name). We'll see what storyline they do in the live-action film. |
