VideoScan is, at best, a poor metric for anime since it doesn't cover online sales either. And as we all know, anime fans tend to buy more online than most other demographics. VideoScan also doesn't cover independent stores, though I don't think there's enough of those to really throw stuff off.
This isn't to say Funi isn't the king of the hill at the moment, but rather not to pay too much attention to these numbers, as they are not the full picture at all. Back when a lot of anime sold through Musicland/Suncoast, these numbers were a bit more useful, but these days... |

| Is there any reason to think that the pattern for online sales would be really different? I mean, I dunno, maybe enough people to matter really are too embarrassed to pick up Lucky Star off the shelf, or it just isn't carried at their local Best Buy or whatever - but maybe not. |

| That's not saying much. They practically own 1/3rd of all Anime titles in NA. |

Well, I think the inclusion of online stores would see a larger number of more niche titles. Overall, the people who shop at online stores, especially anime specific ones, probably tend to be more "hardcore" fans or fans of niche titles who choose to shop on line because they buy a great volume of anime or a lot of things that are tougher to find. Whereas more casual fans who just pick up a few mainstream titles here and there are probably more dominant at brick and mortar stores. Then again, I may just be thinking in Canadian logic. You can't really get a lot of stuff here and the stuff you can is fairly expensive.

Keep in mind though, this is from before they acquired all those titles from ADV and Geneon. So at that point their catalog was not quite as large. |

A lot of the Media Blasters titles are easier to find online than in a B&M. |

| Looks like 'Funimation' is doing good. Though I would like to know what's going on with 'ADV'. While 'MB' are at low percentage, I'm glad to know that they're doing well. Guess they're playing it safe. I would want them to see them disappear. Wonder why 'TRSI's sales numbers weren't posted. |

I am sure that sales would be higher the second half, since this is the time where some new stuff is happening (more Geneon titles being released, Blu-Ray, which isn't actually that new but still, and of course ONE PIECE)
n/m about it, that was nothing, but still, about Gintama...

Better put a emoticon or something on this one, else people might think you're being serious. . . . |

Well, we all would want to see them disappear; that goes without saying....
