I am sooooooo happy about this. Some of the episodes from this season alone has brought me to tears. Tsubame!!! Anime cry

I can only imagine what the next season has in store for us.

I also hope that Kita will do the next opening... but I actually like the ending song more than the opening, so I hope Atari Kousuke will do the next ending as well.

I hope Atari Kousuke will do the next ending as well. Natsu Yuuzora is such a calm and beautiful song.

Clap and slap!

I mean, bite and blow! Razz

Anything that does "Kamichu meets Mushishi" is fine in my book.

Incredible news so early in the morning. I'm really glad to see one of my favourite shows this season getting more screen time and more characters ! If only they could do the same for Yakushiji Ryoko no Kaiko Jikenbo (hail Yoshiki Tanaka)...

What LKK said. Also, shoujo = targeted (mostly) at girls. It's not a requirement to have major female characters, it's just something most of them do. (See the various eroge-turned-anime shows - they're still targeted at guys despite most of the main characters being female.)

Shojo tends to be more formulaic than most tho (although this may be changing).
Plus I always though Natsume had a very "Mushishi" feel, and that's classed as "general" rather than shojo or shonen.

But yea, I think it's shojo basically because of Lala, and Hana Yume handling the tankobon. Although, spoiler[Cat can turn into a pretty hot chick in sailor fuku ] Laughing

Natsume Yuujincho is my favorite series of the summer 08 season and reminds me of why I love anime... the Japanese folklore angle and the laid back, bittersweet storytelling is magic. And the absolutely beautiful ED song is the icing on the cake. Sadly, I doubt we'll ever see this licensed in North America but I'd be first in line to buy it if it was.

I have a hard time nailing down Natsume as either shojo or shonen, it seems like it could find a home in just about any typical manga anthology, it just happened to be in a shojo one. Glad to hear there's more coming, this really is one of the best shows of the year and I'm sure it'll be one of the best of next year as well.

I always thought it was more "XxxHolic meets Mushishi" lol.
I agree with everyone else, I'm so happy to hear that Natsume Yujin-Cho will get a second season. It definitely falls in the sleeper-hits category.

I don't know. I'd be in the same frame of mind if Nozomi Ent (formerly Rightstuf Ent) hadn't licensed Emma and Funimation hadn't pick up Mushishi. I think Natsume Yujin-cho has a better chance than what one might think. Or at least I hope so! Very Happy

I'll second this post (on both accounts, as I am quite enjoying Ryoko's Case Files as well).

Anyway, Natsume Yujinchou is one of those series that sometimes makes me feel a bit sad, but I never feel like I wasted my time watching it. Now I have something to look forward to after the next installment of Junjou Romantica, starting soon...

(And if the anime gods are listening, I'd also like a continuation of Amatsuki, please?...)
