It's always nice to see the Funimation Channel adding more content, considering that is gets quite repetitive being 24/7 and all.
What I would like to know if there would ever be a chance of Funimation Channel adding a SAP w/Japanese audio and make the Closed Captions actually English subtitles or even just adding subtitled anime to the rotation instead of repeating the dubs multiple times during the day? I find myself not watching the channel all that much, partly because I have never been a huge fan of dubs in general. |

That is some thing that I wonder too. why does every anime on tv has to be the dub? especially shows that have a large following of the dub? or at lest give us both options? What if a show doesnt have a dub or to get the show released quicker is to do subs now and dubs at a later time? |

| I believe its because dubs are more marketable and easier for casual viewers to get into. If you're trying to sell anime to people aren't normally into it, I'd think putting it on TV that way would help alot more. Personally I don't see it happening. To the casual TV viewer subtitling makes something (even if its live-action) look snooty and pretentious. And with animation, no casual viewer wants to read a cartoon, otherwise they'd just read comics and manga. |

Considering TAN is dead, you have only a slightly better chance of that than we Comcast subscribers have of getting Funi in the next 5 years (barring the FCC forcing a la carte programming.) A real shame considering how many demographics in this market that channel could target.
At this point it would be nice to at least get some VOD up and running (TAN-S/VOD running Funi shows doesn't count.) |

Well adding a SAP (secondary audio program aka alternative audio stream) w/Japanese audio and making closed caption actually English subtitles would be hidden from the "casual viewer". The first audio stream and no closed captions is always the default, so someone would have to explicitly switch over the the SAP and turn on closed captions. Funimation channel would then be broadcasting both the dub and the sub (hidden) at the same time. Problem solved. |
