that so bad censoring that show

I'm glad they censored this show. The first season you couldn't go 5 seconds without seeing panties. There's a fine line between fanservice and timefiller, and "R+V" most definitely is an uninspired show that seems to need to flash undies in order to score ratings.

I'm not even going to bother watching Season 2.

I haven't seen either show, but if that's really the case, censoring wouldn't really help. It wouldn't replace the shots with anything, so you'd just end up with extra short episodes and erratic camera changes.

Suuuuuuuuuure........ blame the stations!
It's the producers' fault for making the skirts so short!
It's always not the girls' fault. Laughing

O.O wow, that's interesting...so..

Many different stations can air the same television series? I didn't know that.

Panty shots are overrated.

Ok, this is freaky with Japan and censorship. First it was this:

http://www.gamepolitics.com/2008/09/05/report-dead-space-banned-germany-china-japan

Japan banned Dead Space, which I find is stupid because this game is like Resident Evil.

on the same day as the Rosario+Vampire censorship fiasco, this also happen in Japan. Psych hospital wants a DS game banned. Some people in Japan wants to be a Jack Thompson wanabe.

http://www.gamepolitics.com/2008/10/03/report-japanese-shrinks-want-ds-game-banned

Great and now Rosario+Vampire

I'm not going to say whether I approve of this or not, but different channels may have different standards or audiences? Which would be why when the same anime normally shown on Adult Swim was also put on Toonami (when this was around), the Toonami version featured a ton of cuts. What do you expect?

I don't get this. This is japan where talking about here. They have there own porn tv stations and everything. Why would they censor a couple of panty flashes? Do they think that this would boost their ratings or something?

When I lived in Japan 1999-2000, I saw nothing of the kind.
The only nudity I saw on TV was when American movies were played on TV.

Judging by the TV shows (live and animated) coming out of Japan from 20+ years ago and those made more recently, the broadcast standards seem to have become much stricter and is probably more-or-less on par with the U.S.

Words like kichigai (crazy) are now not allowed on Japanese TV, and they used to say it in Lupin III.

That isn't confirmed to be entirely true yet. Besides, individual stations made the choice to censor those scenes, not a national ratings board.

It's called syndication. Doesn't happen anymore in America, where syndication is dead. For comparison, Sailor Moon and Pokemon initially started in syndication in America.

If the censorship goes through the entire second season, that would be seriously messed up and damn distracting, the ecchi part of the anime is what makes the anime what it is and besides, whats the big deal with showing the panties to the girls, it can't be helped if they wear such short skirts -.- And by the way, a few years ago, when i thought of japan, the first thing i could think of was upskirts, so why the hell are they censoring just a few panty shots in a bloody anime even though the country's school girls are popular for wearing skirts.

Wow..... This is the worst thing ever Rolling Eyes
Not really.. I just don't see how they can even show the series without the panty shots nothing would be left would it? Between this and sekirei and ikkitousen sequels well I understand why they want to censor all this unnecessary fan service. I'm sure japan has a sort of FCC and I'm sure parents complain just like here even if we don't hear about it. I understand that half of this stuff comes on at 3am and everything but it's really gratuitous and not tasteful in the least and everyone is underage 90% of the time so it's not a shock at all. Nor is it really news.

It's hard to really say anything without seeing it for ourselves. It would be nice if ANN would show what they're reporting on once in a while, but whatever.

If it was tasteful and not degrading the girls, then I don't see a problem. A little fanservice in a legit series is fine since most of the female characters are shown to be respected on some level or at least show that they hold on there own.
If they don't have a problem showing their body the way they want it and I want to watch, then fine. I don't care either way.

I assure you that rosario + vampire and the words tasteful, respectful to females don't belong in the same sentence. I did see the edited shots and they were no different than anyone expects from the series.

Oh man, totally wrong there. And if you're watching anime and expect women to not be treating as sexual objects, you've got the wrong hobby. It's a business, and their premier clientele being Japanese otaku who favor this stuff, it's almost their duty to provide it. I watched the first season and I'm watching this one, and I'm pretty much watching only for the fanservice, of which there's a lot of it. Man, there were panties all over the place in this episode, it was great. Oh, and the manga might be legit, but this series really isn't.

Heh, I guess Adult Swim's April Fool's Day moustaches don't look so bad now, is it? Is it! Laughing

(Well, OK, maybe the Toonami digi-kinis....)

Censorship is for newbs and little cry babies, if you don't like it don't watch it. I love fanservice cuase i'm over 18 and can handle some panties or breasts poping out.. If the show's made for fanservice leave it the hell alone. But atleast in some ways we can buy the uncut dvds once if ever it gets licensed Smile or by other means if it doesnt Smile
