Yes! I still haven't seen 1.0 yet, which is kinda sad considering I've tried at least a dozen times to view it only for SOMETHING to happen to hinder my attempts. Please, ADV, just license these movies so we can see it...

Although, if the LA Eva movie is being released, I think they'd probably try releasing these movies, and maybe Manga would rerelease End of Eva, in order to cash in on the LA movie's success. Anime smile

Is it just me, or is the title for this one not quite as catchy? Laughing

But really, I'm sure it's expensive to license this, but c'mon, ADV. Don't you have some money left over from selling Evangelion Platinum Box Set #9000 with a tin made out of gundanium?

And there is still no English version on the horizon.

This was the biggest mistake of the decade for anime, Japan.

Awesome news, 1.0 rocked, looking forward to 2.0 and Asuka.

Now if only they could get a trailer going...

Personally I'm sick to death of Eva but I know there are still a lot of fans who want to see these films so for their sake I hope these films are released in the US. However I'm sure Gainax or whoever is asking more money than they're worth or that's realistic for companies to pay. Gone are the days when companies will pay huge amounts of money for a "hot" license.

I'm sure these films will be licensed in the US eventually. I don't think Gainax is willing to loose the US market for Eva, as people have said it's a cash cow. I have a feeling they will try for theatrical releases first. I don't expect to see it any time soon, but who knows maybe a couple of companies like ADV and Funi can get together and put them out sooner than later.

I think if any company is going to get it, Funimation will be it. ADV probably doesn't have enough money to spend on such a property if Gainax is asking too much. It could be whatever company (forgot who?) licensed the two Evangelion movies could acquire them.

The Cowboy Bebop movie was licensed by someone other than Bandai as well, though on the other hand, the FMA movie was licensed by Funi. Hmm, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Even though I've yet to see Rebuild, I want to get the OST. A lot of the music is just remixed (in fact, Rei's theme sounds exactly the same), but the new track "Angels of Doom" is arguably the best Evangelion track yet.

Very, strange. Here in Germany we will get 1.0 on October 20th, so I think the licence wasn't so expensive for our country. Please note that there are English subtitles on the official Hong Kong DVDs as far as I know, but I think codefree DVD players are not as common in the US as in Germany (we won't be able to watch all the great Code 1 anime DVDs without them^^).

But I hope that someone pick up the series in the US and that they will also release a nice Blu-Ray version. However there's hope that Germany will get a Blu-Ray next year because the product manager for the German DVD told me that, the source for the DVD was HD, and that we will perhaps get a Blu-Ray next year.

I really don't understand where's the problem in the US, when even anime-developing-country Germany gets fine releases???

That's interesting. It may be that Gainax thinks there's more money to be had in the US.

Or there are licensing issues to do with the live-action movie or something, like how Battle Angel never got a re-release apart from that offlet of old stock.

Can't really see any other reason, as it is certainly getting a release elsewhere, in Aus/NZ it's out on the 15th, http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/Neon-Genesis-Evangelion-10-You-Are-Not-Alone/1566253/

Seems odd but it doesn't really seem like it would be a money issue with so many others getting it.

The last I'd heard about this was that it was rumoured that some larger studio like Sony Pictures would be looking to get all 4 of these films for worldwide distribution. Sony's been doing a pretty nice job with anime releases like Steamboy as well as promoting Blood+ on 30 Days of Night DVDs. Also they've got exclusivity to Xam'd for the PSN movie sevice on PS3. So chances are it's probably Sony that'll afford to pick this up and then distribute it simultaneously on DVD and Blu-Ray. I'd be looking forward to the blu-ray release. They might do some special stuff with it. Also seeing as there was that whole fiasco in Japan where they released 1.0 on DVD and then re-released it with better sound again, distribution companies are probably waiting to get all the features locked in before releasing it in North America.

I'm certain that if Sony gets it they will get the original VAs to reprise their roles again too providing there's no issues. Maybe Sony will try and push blu-ray and PS3 sales more in NA with closely released HD copies of Evangelion 1.0, Resident Evil: Degeneration and FF7: Advent Children Complete and possibly Season 1 of Xam'd in due time. But I'm just speculating here...

I never heard of any problems with the Japanese 1.0 DVDs. I own the Japanese first print and it sounds ok for me.

Here's a suggestion for the title for the third movie:

Evangelion 3.0: You Will (Not) Care.

I don't know what the wait is. Its not like Eva is ADV's worst selling title. I don't know why people weren't discussing licensing back when they heard new Eva films were gonna be made.

I enjoyed the first movie because I like Eva, but it was a major disappointment since I was expecting altered/new story and ended up wit a recap movie.

Hopefully this one adds more.
