Really, this was the logical thing for Funi to do. The last thing you want to do in this market is upset your most loyal customers. I will be interested to see what they do with Shattered Angels since I did pick up volume 1, but I doubt I will get the same treatment since it was only the first volume released.

crap, I shouldn't have acted so quicky. I just sold my NHK DVD's a few days ago... my bad for acting too quick. Looks like I may rebuy them back if I can... it's my fault for selling it. Hopefully I can get the DVD's back for what I sold them for.

I think much apologising is in order here. from all the whingers and whiners of the other thread. Wink

Considering it's probably the whiners responsible for this turn, I don't think any apology is necessary. Had there been no complaint, I doubt FUNi would have done this at all.
I agree with Splitter. What FUNi can be praised for is "keeping their ear to the ground" AKA paying attention to fan concerns & wishes. If they still sold the box sets & weren't willing to put out individual volumes, they would be accused of being "just another greedy company".

BTW, it's past Adult Swim's time to be attentive to fan wishes concerning their Saturday schedule... but [as] is too stupid to learn from FUNimation... one of their suppliers.

Edited to add Memo to Mohawk52: True, we'll never know if FUNi had this planned or not, but to assume they were jerking our chains to see what we'd do is acting like Adult Swim does with Anime fans... & with FUNi too; Shin-Chan was moved to AS Video-only with only 5 episodes left on TV & was replaced with FUNi's old chestnut, Fullmetal Alchemist. Can FUNi trust them with newer shows like Claymore & D.Gray-man?

Do you mean Kanon Vol. 6? If so, it's due out Oct. 14. I ordered through RightStuf and got my copy a few days ago. Here's a link:
http://www.rightstuf.com/cgi-bin/catalogmgr/E=gIJVtprvd4eD6pcT/browse/item/80854/4/0/0
Robert's Anime Corner Store is shipping it now. (I just got my copy in today!)

I applaud this decision as I've got both NHK and Pumpkin Scissors boxes that needed filling. Although I was willing to purchase the box sets I'm glad I can finish these series in the single format instead of feeling like I wasted money on the earlier singles/art boxes.

Once again, I feel that Funimation has proven themselves superior to other anime companies. (Hence why I give them red coloring. They are the Leader! Wink )

Still need some info on a few titles (Wallflower, Shattered Angels) but I feel pretty positive now about things over-all.

I know a few people went overboard before but considering all the problems we've had recently, I'm not surprised fans were ready to snarl at them for what seemed almost a slap in the fact to the ADV singles buyers. (And we got slapped around enough by ADV before everything went to heck.)

I'm just glad things seem to be working out in a positive way for all concerned.

Well that's good to hear because I usually just go to my local Best Buy and buy all my anime there so I'll defiantly be there this tuesday... It's hard for me to say this but I rarely buy anime online... except when they don't sell it in stores and all...

Seriously, for those who DO need to apologize (AKA the ranters, not the civil), they're not the type to do so anyway, so why bother insisting? I'm not sure about this forum, but on animeondvd, most people seemed civil in their arguments and actually were bothering to make their voice heard by sending out emails and such. Sure, you had your share of people who acted like this was some foul injustice worthy of legal punishment, but most people seemed to remain sane, so I don't think the latter need to apologize for simply asking for something.

Honestly, if there's a company I'm slightly upset with right now, it's Bandai. Some of their releases with faulty discs have been out for a good while now, and still no sign of them being fixed in future shipments or Bandai even bringing much focus on the issue. After the dub/sub Gurren Lagann volumes and whenever the Eureka Seven boxsets are released, I'll be skeptical of buying anything else from them until this gets resolved.

Thank you Funimation! Even though I wasn't effected by this, since I only bought NHK vol. 1-3, it still is nice to see that they will change things at the request of the fans. It really reflects well on Funimation. Smile

Way to go Funimation. Now this makes me wonder though. Why they decided against releasing the Shana OVA or a Artbox (or packaging the OVA with the Artbox). I know they said they may have lost money but, wasn't that the reason they were originally going to end these in boxes. Either way, good for people who would be missing a complete set of singles. And since I love getting singles, I will prolly pick some of these series up sooner rather than later now. (Although I would have gotten the series boxes anyway).

Actually Shattered Angels had 2 or 3 volumes released I do believe. I know at least vol 2 came out but I'm not sure on vol 3. And of course this was the logical thing for Funi to do. I mean why would they pick up a series (or several series) that were in the middle of distribution, but never finished, unless they planned to finish distributing the dvds themselves? Seriously, I've been kind of surprised at the comments so many people have left in various threads whining about Funi better do this or better do that. Use some common sense people. If they're going to pick up a title from ADV, or Geneon as they got a few of those as well, that was in the middle of production or distribution chances are they are going to finish it. Otherwise there would be no real point in picking up that title, unless it was some super huge hit they knew they could make money off of what was out already (but these 3 certainly don't fit that). I think some people need to simply be patient for them to get out the rest of the rescue titles they acquired. First and foremost they would, I assume, focus on their own internal library first before any rescue titles. I mean if you're gonna help rescue a sinking ship you better make sure yours doesn't have any holes first.

As for the titles themselves Red Garden was the only one I was collecting and interested in. I still only had volumes 1 and 2 so I'll probably just wait for the box set and trade in my 2 singles volumes. With the holiday season looming I need to save as much money as possible for gifts.

I'm confused! They had said earlier that they were releasing them only as box sets!

actually they already released the entire first season in a box set and it also includes the OVA... now I'm just praying that Funi will come back and do the same thing with the Shana movie and Second Season... And maybe even get the second season of Nanoha + the movie that will come out in Japan in just a few short months... and the second and third seasons of Zero no Tsukaima would deff make my year!

I just sent a very nice thank you email to FUNimation. And I suggest anyone who has been in contact with them through email(and even those who weren't!) do the same. While I don't think we owe them an apology of any kind. I do think we owe them our thanks.

That's brilliant news. I had both NHK and Pumpkin Scissors volumes 1 to 5, so I was a bit miffed at the idea of having to effectively repurchase things I already had just to get to the end of the series.

I think that shows a willingness to listen to the customer!

The 6th DVD volumes of each of these series will also be released at a later date through Right Stuf.

So does that mean only through Right Stuf, or is Right Stuf acting as distributor? I hope it's the latter, I find Right Stuf's shipping to Canada to be very slow and expensive compared to alternative sources and I can only justify using it as a "reward" for Nozomo licensing my favourite series (Aria, Emma, etc.) But for the final 2 discs of NHK... I'm going to have to calculate if the extra shipping cost will make it better to just get the boxset through other sources and toss the discs I already have. :S
