Wouldn't it be more logical to put the series on a monthly schedule for now? Spread things out a bit more while still catching up with the Japanese releases?
I wish they would release other Shounen Jump series more frequently. Saint Seiya doesn't sell well, why not just translate and print the last few volumes before summer 2009 and get it over with? They could release six volumes a year of D. Gray-man, speed up Hikaru no Go and Gintama... |

Sweet. Not only is great from a Naruto fan perspective, but from a Bleach and OP's perspective, too, because now they can finally give those titles a bit more space in the magazine.
Just awesome. |

MAN!!! I'm sooo psyched for this. But this will be tough as I'm building a new computer soon so I'll have to go back and forth with buying parts and the naruto volumes. As long as I have em I'll be set. Though I tend to read mangas I buy in one sitting when I get home and reread again later. Speed demon But yeah, One piece needs a faster release schedule. Time for me to burn a hole in my wallet
But other than that its great news to hear that they are doing this although it'll empty my wallet :'( and that shippuuden's first season has been dubbed. I can't wait. I just hope CN isn't too much of an ass to not put it on there. It'd be sweet though if it aired on Ani-mondays on Sci-Fi if CN said no. |

| I'd like to see them do this with some other series, just to finish them off. Hikaru no Go could have been done already had they released it more frequently... |

have to agree with that, but more people are buying the volumes of naruto, and as for one piece, just like with the anime, some people are downloading fan translated version of them online so it don't make any sense especially in these economic times. |

You really want to know?
Okay then, here's the thing: Naruto won't be around in 2010. Or rather, it'll be around, but no longer king of the hill. It's been working its' way down the demographic scale. At first it was big with all ages but the thing is, Naruto is Yet Another Jump Manga. It's rather good for it's type, that's true. But at the end of the day, it's Yet Another Jump Manga. Older fans have seen this before, two or three times at least, and it bores them. The younger fans haven't and still like it, but with anything that's popular with kids there's a slow crawl downwards. The high school kids, for example, are really into it until they realize that their Junior High siblings are ALSO really into it. Then it becomes lame, because noone respects anyone who's still doing Junior-High stuff. The fact that everyone was doing it a week ago doesn't matter, if the Junior High kids are into it, it's dead to the older crowd.
It works it's way down like that. The Junior High crowd won't have anything to do with it once the middle schoolers are into it, the middle schoolers drop it like a rock when the elementary schoolers start obsessing over it, and when it hits that point- well, as a great playwright once said "You get a few spots on your hat and you're done." This is a "get while the getting's good" move- Viz senses that the gravy train is about to run out of steam, and want to get as much as they can out of the fanbase before that happens.
But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Naruto will pull a DBZ and transcend itself to become a classic of animation, respected for decades to come in spite of it's flaws. But I wouldn't count on it. Counting on it would be bad business. |

| After they get caught up with Naruto, they can do Bleach (makes the most sense from a sales' point of view), since we're 11 chapters behind them, as well. |

| Damn, they'll only be a few volumes behind the Japanese release, I think that's the closest any series has gotten in a long while. |

| Bellos: I was hoping that was the case with Pokemon and DB, but those suckers still make money. I'm just hoping if Naruto peaks, as you claim, that the market is still there for anime and manga in general. |

And all the while One Piece is ignored once again!
One Piece releases are waaaay too slow! I suffer for loving it too much to not be able to just read it online. |

| Agh, that is too much Naruto to handle for me in that amount of time. (Oh, my money!) Guess I'd better get off my butt and catch up with the latest release. |

I'm guessing Viz would rather have less money at longer intervals than at faster intervals... Not like it matters, since they can just milk Naruto for all its worth, like they do.
But I'll agree that it's probably better to get titles out as fast as possible, even if they don't sell as well, when you have more than enough money to do so. Saint Seiya only has another 4 volumes left too, and Kinnikuman II Sei/Ultimate Muscle has another 8 volumes left (and has finally gone beyond the anime)... Just get those volumes out already! |

Not exactly. They didn't start dubbing Shippuden until last week, but it's still going to premiere in 2009. |
