Well, "getting back on your feet" immediately reminds me of Welcome to the NHK. It's a very amusing, comedic, and occasionally depressing story about a shut-in getting help from someone just as, if not more, messed up as he is. The journey of those main two characters overcoming their mental problems is both sad to watch and strangely moving. Definitely recommended.

If anyone is looking for a drama I'd recommend Figure 17: Tsubasa and Hikaru. It's often described as slice of life due to its slow pace, but there's a strong dramatic arc dealing with the main character's development throughout. Also includes light sci-fi and monster of the week elements, although it's much more focused on the character drama.

The Wandering Son manga is an excellent drama; I have reservations about the anime series.

If I remember correctly I believe that at least part of Nana tackled themes like that.

Asatte no Houkou, or "Living for the Day After Tomorrow," concerns a woman in her twenties who returns to her rural Japanese town after spending time in America. She encounters her former lover who left her in the States.

The first episode of the four-episode OVA Otona Joshi no Anime Time focuses on a disgruntled wife who also returns to her small Japanese town while her husband remains at his job in the States. Turns out she has some unfinished emotional business to resolve.

Some of the episodes of Bartender touch on these issues as well. In episode two a young woman wants to make amends with her grandfather. In episode three a retiring business executive reflects on his decision not to follow an acting career. In episode six two filmmakers consider how their work has changed as commercialism overcame the radicalism of their early years.

So it is now 2016. My question: Did 2015 present any good drama anime? (Please, no unannotated lists.)
