So much hate flying around. It's as if you're comparing 4kids who targets children as opposed to companies like Funimation who handle a larger audience... Oh wait.
So what's on Fox now? Nothing? Reruns of Digimon Season 1 or something? Or is that now a political message of child rebellion teen angst?
I'm not saying particularly enjoy what 4kids has done, but they've been able to acquire licenses and gear it towards children well. |

Here's what has been 4Kids problem when anime has been concerned. They've taken anime and tried to gear it towards kids, which is a good thing. Problem is, some of the ones they took they geared too much towards kids, to the extent that they ruined the programs in the first place. One Piece is somewhat of a kids show, but the cultural aspect of elemental portrayal in the show Japan does not match how it should be portrayed in the US. It should have been geared towards teens in the first place when it crossed the Pacific. It wasn't, and there was mass outcries against the series and 4Kids because of it. They did great with Pokemon, I can give them that much, but 4Kids should have NEVER touched One Piece. The series is on delayed recovery because of that. It's great though that Funi picked it up, and released it for what it was meant to be released as. |

| I'm suprised they are still holding on to Yu-gi-oh for another 7 years. On another note, what anime properties does 4Kids still have? |

Yu-Gi-Oh!
Magical DoReMi
Dinosaur King
Fighting Foodons
Kirby
Sonic X
Anyway, this isn't the end for 4Kids. They still have the CW4Kids until at least 2013. 4Kids has talked about dumping FOX for months now. They're just doing it earlier than expected. |

Or the end is finally nigh for them.
Either one is fine, cause I've never really cared about them. Not that the news isn't pointless but it has no effect on me.
Mainstream is finally being fed up with the anime buzz, I'm fine with that. |
Yes ,after all the north america anime industry is just booming right now with it s hard core of fans. Most of whom don t buy a dam thing! This industry needs a gateway to lure in news fans and expand the amount of possible consumers or the anime industry here will continue to shrink. |
It seems that so far I'm the only other person who agrees with you. Sure I might not like the stuff that 4Kids has produced, but then again I'm outside of their target market. Getting kids to watch Anime and potentially become purchasers is a good thing, and I don't think that them having trouble is necessarily the great news that people seem to think it is. Oh well, if they want to switch networks badly enough to buy out of their contract then they must have good reasons. |

Theres a lot of younger kids who will. We as hard core anime fans/otakus and the like see there approach to shows as destructive to the industry yet for the kid around 4-7 who doesn't quite understand yet(yes I am aware there are many exceptions) They will feel a loss. I'm pretty sure that for most things taken away there will always be someone who wants it back in place. And don't forget they did do some good to the industry in the beginning of its time. |

The funny thing is that 4Kids doesn't really localize shows anymore. Yeah, I guess they change the music, but that's pretty much the worst of it. Like in Dinosaur King, the setting takes place in Japan and they keep all Japanese cultural references in. And in GoGoRiki (a Russian import) they keep all the Russian text. Heck, they even have an Anime/Manga Forum on their discussion boards at 4Kids.com.
I guess you can fault them for not having a uncut DVD releases, but how many kids between the age of six and eleven are actually going to want to watch a subbed TV show? |

| i'm worried about what this means in general. first Adult Swim anime got gutted, and then Toonami was dropped, and now even 4kids has lost interest in anime. i think the bubble has finally popped. |

Well I hope everyone is happy. They got their wish, 4kids tv (at least the part that was on Fox) is now totally gone.
It only took a near crippling financial meltdown and the prospect of one of the worst recession's in modern US history! Small price to pay, indeed... |
