Near as I can make out, what it may mean is, "I may not be their biological father and there is plenty of reason for me to be disqualified from even being considered a father figure to the girls, but at the end of the day, that's exactly what I am, whether the world likes it or not."]

By the way, not that I'm necessarily intending to buy this, but if Sentai provides a dub, I'll be willing to bet that I will not like the Hina performance, no matter which adult does it. Hearing an adult attempt to sound like a three-year-old in English almost always turns out ghastly.

huh cause you see in your crystal ball that sentai might fork'd to cast hilary haag as hina if go with dub?

hey besides you also check hina's japanese voice as well.

besides give still hmm to wonder will sentai will later re-release with dub besides i'm all on my knees, teeth chattering, shaking, etc cross my fingers for dub on papa anime.

i caught the final episode and overall it's fairly decent series over all 4/5, I am surprised how it ended as well. spoiler[Yuto's aunt and uncle sign over his sister house to him so he can live with the girls there which as nice turn of events.] spoiler[Also when yuto asked reika will be my wife "even it was for a musical i still went Shocked"]. The whole musical bit was a nice bit as well with all the support for Hina... This is defiantly worth a purchase later this year and I will need to change my score here.

Well, finished the series. The ending wasn't as good as I expected but still enjoyable. One to admit that Hina is pretty mature for her age the beginning of this episode.

Anyways, great series and now...to read the light novels. I'm hoping for a season 2 tbh.

9/10

I like that anime can touch on very hard issues, and this one did in a nice fashion that was never too melodramatic or heavy-handed. Sure there were a few ecchi missteps, but I really felt for their familial bond. I wish we had seen a bit more of Yuuta's feelings regarding his sister, he seemed to just take everything about that in stride the entire time. Perhaps he was too busy and focused to reflect on it, but it must still have shook him deeply, despite gaining three daughters he still lost his closest relative.

Comparing it to Aishiteruze Baby, that anime had much more focus on how much time Kippei had to devote to Yuzuyu, by feeding and cooking for her and giving her emotional and physical attention. What was always weird in that show was how absent the rest of the family was, even though they all lived together. Papakiki network of familial support is shown to be a bit stronger and more attentive when you realize the story only really took place over about a two month period, given that it was mostly Summer vacation. Aishiteruze Baby goes about a whole year and the family continues to remain more or less absent in the lives of the main cast, spoiler[but that Aunt Yoshiko in Papakiki I believe becomes more involved once they move back into the house in the manga.] Perhaps comparing it to Usagi Drop is more apropos; what's funny is how common a subject childcare is in anime.

Raika 4eva <3

Back off, man. Raika is mine but unless you want to settle this in the parking lot, she's mine forever.

I only really watched this show for Raika but it was fun to watch despite her not having more appearances till later episodes. It got a bit too dramatic for my tastes sometime but I still enjoyed it. Although, we need more Raika fanservice. The lolicon dude was hilarious and had me laughing whenever his lolicon antics appeared. From this episode's flashback, Yuuta's sis seems like a bro.

While I admire your taste in unblinking, big titty, offbeat chicks, you have to concede that I staked my claim first and that Article XIX, clause 26 of the Internet Constitution stipulates that the first to claim a 2D wench, wins. Hey look, I don't make the laws, I simply uphold them.

Well having finished up episode 12 I have to say that was enjoyable to watch. I cried a bit when spoiler[Hina was crying about learning that Mom and Dad are not coming back], though I pretty sure I was crying because I had something in my eye and not because I was emotionally moved by it.

I'm looking forward to Sentai's release of the series and given how much I enjoyed it I will have to pre-order (on sale of course) it instead of just waiting until the price drops normally.

Darn. I thought for sure I was going to be able to gloat that I called this one. Oh well. I wondered all along why spoiler[the gang never moved into the house in Ikebukuro. I guess the aunt and uncle wanted to see what Yuuta was really all about first.]

That was a nice finale, but sadly I don't think there will be a season 2. Besides some of the unnecessary fanservice, I loved this show. I gave it a Very Good on ANN. It had the perfect balance of comedy and drama. Hina was the best. Maybe for the dub, they can get a teenage girl to do it? I don't know how dubs work, but one of those Disney girls could probably do a great job doing Hina's voice.

Interesting that CR put up an icon for the 13th episode. I wonder if that was a mistake or there is something else coming.

Having looked back over it, I upgraded the Sora/Miu fan service from the "not so bad" category to "a positive thing." They didn't take it too far or too much. With one girl approaching puberty and one just finishing it the occasional flash is actually quite realistic. And like it or not, girls and boys that age are all about developing sexuality. It is actually a part of the story and not just a gimmick to sell it to pedophiles who would probably be better off buying H titles anyway.

I know I'll probably make a bunch of enemies here with that position, but there it is.

It's also listed in their list of continuing shows:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-755989/new-spring-titles-coming-soon

Although CR have made mistakes before, it also seems (by looking at the really horribly google translated summaries of the books on Amazon Japan) that they haven't even covered all of the way through book three of the novels, as there are currently nine of them it's definitely true that there's plenty to cover still.

As for the episode, about what I expected, a final little drama before deciding to spoiler[stay together] (does that really need a spoiler, you couldn't figure it out?: ) ) And it's nice that someone finally figured out the obvious solution and lspoiler[et them move into the vacant house that allows the girls to be close to their school and only Yuta has to commute.] I guess you can say the aunt and uncle were testing their resolve before admitting it was the only practical thing. Or everyone was just too dense to realize.

The Crunchyroll subtitles handled the line in question just slightly differently, but the minor variation in wording makes all of the difference: spoiler["I'm not their dad, but I am a dad." (Emphasis is mine.) I interpreted it as an acknowledgement that, while he can't actually be their father, he can be like a father to them.]

All-in-all, I found episode 12 to be extraordinary. It was far more gutsy, and far more emotional, than I would have believed it could have been given the way that the series started, and it handled everything without needless melodrama. (And, naturally, Raika was awesome in her limited appearance.) I actually hope that the episode 13 thing on CR is a fake, as I cannot imagine the series ending better than what it does with episode 12.

Follow-Up: Ah, I tracked down some details on the episode 13 thing. Apparently it will be an OVA episode released on the final DVD and Blu-Ray volumes, which is slated to be released in Japan on July 11th. Crunchyroll has, in the past, been known to stream such follow-up OVAs when they come out, so perhaps that's the reason for the "episode 13" listing on their site. Sadly, no details are available on what that episode might contain, but I'd kinda like to see a "several years later" episode.

I actually had a feeling that that was the what they were going for, it seems to be what would fit best in the context of what Yuta had to learn. (I think my grammar is off in that sentence) And along the lines of what I mentioned was an important for the kids (especially Hina).

Encyclopedia here has only 12 episode titles listed, so I was confused with a possible 13th, but an OVA seems right, I am calling it now being with Raika as that is what the audience wants.

I probably should have mentioned it before, but one of my favourite bits was when Hina was spoiler[being told and she got upset and said she hated her sister.] I loved the emotional bit where she spoiler[tried to say her mother and father promised her and bunny, they would come back.] Do you know why? Because that is pretty realistic for what a child that age would do. But on the other hand was slightly disturbed by Miu recounting that spoiler[Hina told bunny she would not cry anymore,] a four year old doing something that makes me feel a little sick.

And about why they did not spoiler[live in the house straight away, remember the did basically run away at first, and the situation was more on him proving he could look after them than the kids being able to look after themselves. I like how the final episode did a throw back to what his sister did, I think that was very important.]

Crunchyroll removed it from the list of continuing anime but continues to list it as 26 episodes. Curiouser and curiouser.
