C-C-Captain Harlock?

Don't toy with my heart like that.

Just don't.

This is a true surprise. I always figured it would be Discotek who would take on this series. Still, if this company is run by the former head of Rhino, then they have some experience releasing older and oddball titles of all sorts. I hope this and Bobobo-bo Bobobo works out for them.

Things have gotten interesting... I thought Discotek did a decent job with their re-releases of the 2 GE999 films & FotNS & held out hopes that they would also license the GE999 (& Captain Harlock) series too. While it wasn't Discotek, at least someone took a chance...

Maybe one of these two companies will license Queen Millennia??

What? Who are S'More? Anyhow, at least they picked an interesting title I'd probably buy, since I liked the movies, so yay for GE999. On the other hand boo for no dub. A Leiji Matsumoto work, no doubt crammed full of endless droning dialog is something that a dub is a necessity for in my opinion. Guess I should go out and buy a case of eye drops. Crying or Very sad

Well, this has my interest. I was on the fence with getting the movies since I don't really like the thought of getting a watered down, or at least abbreviated version, of a show. Now I don't have to!

My thoughts exactly. I will definitely keep an eye on them and do my best to support them. Can you imagine if they start to license other classics? (Touch, Rose of Versailles, etc.)

Wow this is a day one for me. I hope they get the whole thing out and don't stop halfway through or something. I would love to own this even though the streams are still available. Just like to know I have it on my shelf instead of a stream that could go away anytime.

Still, having 113 episodes is going to limit the audience. This isn't Dragonball.

From what i understand Toei has someone make a compilation movie out of Harlock and several other shows and is doing god knows what with them.

Did they licensed the entire show or just a chunk of it? I'd want to know this before picking it up. If they aren't releasing the entire show, they might opt out on future sets if the sales are low. GE 999 is super long.

I wonder if they'd release Pretty Cure. It has a dub and was aired on TV in Canada. I'd love to own the series on DVD. Anime catgrin

This!

The dub also aired in UK on PopGirl and on Cartoon Network in Australia & New Zealand as well.

4Kids dropped the license years ago which is why the Blue Water dub was made in the first place because it was commissioned by Toei themselves.

That didn't stop Discotek from getting all of Fist Of The North Star TV since that was also one of the shows that Toei got William Winckler to do their "films" with.
