I remember them doing the same thing in the Full Metal Panic: Second Raid booklets. They all made references to major plot events that wouldn't occur until subsequent volumes, leaving me wondering for a while how I missed that happening.
As for Darker Than Black, I kind of liked the learning curve at the beginning. I'm so used to long, tedious info dumps from these kinds of shows that I found the mysteriousness of DTB kinda refreshing. It felt a little like joining a game after play has already started and being told that someone will coach me along when they get a chance, but that for the time being, I've just gotta pick up the rules on the fly. It makes it...more fun, somehow. Totally personal preference there, though. |
