I will just tack this one here...it's very interesting to see Manga UK releasing a single set for DVD and a single set for Blu-ray

As such things should be. A combined release would exceed the requirements of many potential buyers.

Quite. I have no use whatsoever for Blu rays. They'd just be overpriced coasters. I've never understood the logic behind combo packs.

That Tokyo Shark Attack thing looks absolutely insane Laughing

As far as I understand, it's more for the brick and mortar retailers as it saved FUNi money by only having to print one SKU and only have one shelf spot instead of two.

I believe I saw news on twitter within the past few days that said someone had licensed Mawaru Penguindrum for the UK, think it was Kaze again.

@KyuubiMinato It's still going to be released in the UK. @KazeUK have said that it will now be a subtitle-only release due to the cancelation of the title in the USA. Should be more details on this soon. ^JG

The Ninja Scroll limited edition steelbook is coming next month, and is currently being offered to early birds at discounted prices. We can’t guarantee how long this price will hold, so get your pre-orders in now to avoid disappointment. But if that’s not enough of a reason to shell out for Yoshiaki Kawajiri, here are eight other reasons:
  1. Fully remastered Blu-ray.
  2. Bonus DVD edition in the same pack.
  3. Exclusive steelbook casing.
  4. Full colour wraparound artwork, front and back, as well as inside the steelbook.
  5. Director’s commentary by Yoshiaki Kawajiri – painstakingly translated and subtitled, and approved by Madhouse Studios.
  6. Limited edition only available in the UK and Ireland.
  7. Bonus 20-page Ninja Scroll booklet by Jonathan Clements, author of A Brief History of the Samurai.
  8. Includes the original uncut theatrical release (BBFC-rated 18) of Ninja Scroll, digitally re-mastered in stunning HD.

11/10/2012:
Kaze slate Code Geass Blu-Ray for January 2013 UK release
Series also returns on DVD

When we solicited our readers for questions to pose to Kaze UK's Andrew Partridge in preparation for our latest podcast, we were inundated with people (quite naturally) asking the same question - when are we going to see Code Geass return to the UK on Blu-Ray as had been previously promised?

Kindly, Mr. Partridge had no qualms about answering this question in full, and now we've given you some time to digest our latest podcast for yourselves it seems only right to give his confirmation a news story in its own right.

Thus, we can now reveal that the first season of Code Geass will be released by Kaze UK (and distributed by Manga Entertainment) in its entirety during the course of January 2013 - this full first series will enjoy both Blu-Ray and DVD releases, with recommended retail prices of £39.99 and £29.99 respectively.

You can expect a more fully-fledged reveal of Kaze's entire line-up for the first quarter of 2013 at London Expo, which includes some "nice surprises" - of course, we'll be covering all of that news for you during London Expo weekend!

For now though, our advice would be - start saving!
