I hope these comments were in the minority. That's absolutely atrocious. These people are not real fans. |

Good God. They need to get a life. You know what, I love Mamo-chan and his voice is amazing, and yeah, of course I'm jealous of his wife, hahaha, but CONGRATS, Mamo-chan! |

A big problem is that Miyano is very tall and handsome (I'd say on par with, if not better than, Johnny's idols), in addition to his attractive voice. If it were a marriage/childbirth announcement of a more talented yet not as physically attractive seiyū e.g. Nobuyuki Hiyama (who can act as seme, uke, aniki, AND otaku equally well) I'd say there would be much fewer curses. |

But this holds true for most "teen idol" types. John Lennon kept his first marriage quiet for fear of disillusioning fans who apparently had dreams of being Mrs John Lennon. The West pretty much got over that finally, but Japan is more similar to how things used ot be here. There was a time scandals could kill careers here. Now it seems the media here goes from juicy scandal to jucy scandal. I think it happens once in awhile here still. Stalker-types are stalker types. There are always going to be fans out there who can't separate their fantasies from reality & it's not just hot young things here (I don't think David Letterman counts as either & he had a pretty well-known stalker incident) I always took the other route--breeding stars hopefully produce more talent. Of course now not every celebrity HAS talent, so it's a mixed bag. I've not really been impressed by Miyano yet. There are about 50 seiyuu I can rattle off several roles they've done off the top of my head. (including Hiyama) He's still-see the name, remember what he's been in which is better than "Who's that?" |

| Tch. The immaturity level of some fans never fails to astonish me. How can someone be jealous of a woman they've never met for marrying a man they never had a chance with in a million years? I took a sec to google the story, and I read somewhere that Mr. Miyano was told that he wouldn't be able to have children or something of the sort, and that he was really thrilled to have a chance to be a father.
Let's review-- We've got a beloved, multi-talented seiyuu... Who was told that he could never have children, which made him sad... Then he and his long-time girlfriend miraculously get pregnant... and he marries her... And some of his own fans have the gall to wish a miscarriage on him and his wife?? What on earth are these people thinking? That if his kid dies they or their creepy non-canon pairing of choice will have a chance at him?? /annoyed Well, this fan says congratulations to him and his wife, best of luck in their marriage, and best wishes for their baby. |

Setsuna on the other hand, I assume Swaile was casted as just because they think they can use him as the "official" English voice of Mamoru Miyano now. There's really no other way I could wrap my head around his casting for the role.[/quote] I agree with you as well.
I figured something like this would happen sooner or later. Fan girls are such... |

No, he's a VA. Off the top of my head, isn't he Kiba/Wolf's Rain which I remember from Newtype USA the Director saying he cast newbs for the main leads because he didn't want big names overshadowing the story. (I chose to read between the lines & assume he was saving a buck & that was a thin excuse.) I haven't heard him singing. He obviously hasn't done enough harem titles (Angelique, Haruka, Saber Marionette, etc) or shonen titles (GetBackers. Bleach, etc) with VA's I do like that have bothered to put out character cds. There was a time when it was pretty common for the cast to sing the themes, but now they seem to favor pop bands, I assume cross-promotion sales, whatever it's called. (The singer gets exposure to people who maybe never listened to them while the show maybe gets a few fans listening to the theme maybe checking out the title) I've heard more than one guy told they couldn't father a child who did, so I'm not shocked, but it must be nice for him. Hopefully all the people wishing him or his family ill will get their karma full on back in their faces. Hey, it's not just fangirls. Fanboys can be scary, though maybe not in the same way. We've seen female stars stalked by fans so it's not an exclusive club & I know more than a few gals who have had to take out restraining orders on guys in their personal lives. There are a whole lot of people out there who think, given a chance, they can work it out even in the face of flat out refusal of their advances. If so many "hopeless romantics" think they have a chance when told to "drop dead" to their faces, is it any wonder some fans are sure all they need to 5 minutes with the star of their choice & that star will fall hopelessly in love with them? Maybe we need to see a few less impossible romance shows made promoting the image the impossible can happen because it only feeds the fantasy. Harsh reality doesn't sell as well, though. |
