| Barack Obama was #3 as well. I think we can thank Adult Swim and the Narutard foundation for getting one of our own favorites of the medium into the mainstream exposure. | |||

| Then let me rephrase that, Naruto is on the channel containing Cartoon Network, and people watch that Naruto on that channel. The end. | |||

| Wonder what percentage of those searches were followed by the word "subs." |

Except the Japanese who seem to prefer Yahoo. (Maybe because they can pronounce it better?) |

| Putting "Naruto" into Google Trends is even more enlightening. Compared to more widely reported on media releases like "Dark Knight" and "High School Musical" it rates much higher and seems to be ever growing in popularity (though searches for "ナルト" are decreasing). | |||

That Google Trends thing is very interesting. Since 2007, more searches have been made for 'Naruto' than for 'anime'. It also appears that ANN's popularity beats that of many other anime-related websites, but is in turn trumped by Crunchyroll. |

Looking at google trends (not yahoo but still same principle) when I add sub or fansub to the search term the comparison to naruto itself is negligible, so it would seem the percentage is quite low. I tried naruto torrent as well, and it worked out to be slightly higher than "fansub" or "sub" but still negligible compared to the term by itself. Of course, one doesn't need to type "sub" or "torrent" to be looking for them, but I usually do if I'm looking for something like that myself. |
