Good news, but I hope that it doesn't become a Dragon Ball Z clone... with girls instead.

Okay then. I guess I'll take a look at this since I LOVE Nakahara Mai. |

Nice NEWS is Nice NEWS, but I'm hoping this doesn't turn into something horrible. Been a fan for almost 2 years now...
Anyway, the Seiyuu line ups are great! I can't wait |

If you haven't seen Touhou hentai, try danbooru or pixiv. Even though they are EXCELLENT EXCELLENT sites for finding non-explicit art, you will most likely run into the usual hentai.
Didn't Maikaze release that one trailer of the beach scene where Youmu is pretty much into Yuyuko? Hmm, I hope it's not all like that.... They're not in the character list anymore?
Even if this turns out to be bad, I'm still going to watch it. |

They can't quite possibly adapt every Touhou game out there, can they? If this has any plot semblance to the games, it'll probably be Scarlet Devil-based (minus Flandre). I mean my favorite characters (Yukari, and Reisen) are missing too but I'm sure the future of Touhou adaptations will depend on how well received this is. Who knows, maybe we'll get an actually studio adaptation...maybe even KyoAni...

EDIT: THE TIME IS APPROACHING.
I hear they made an announcement on their site addressing ZUN's worries. O_O
EDIT 2: Oh. The poster below addressed it.

Last I read, MAIKAZE funded and produced the animation solely by themselves. Tokine went through the all the appropriate steps towards making this a reality. It's not unusual for doujin groups to enlist professional seiyuu for productions. Shoujo Byou/Girl Disease has utilized Aya Hirano and Minori Chihara for their doujin music releases, as well as other notable talent.
Vice versa, it is not unheard of for doujin groups to end up doing professional work. Asriel provided the OP for Monochrome Factor as well as the ED for the visual novel 11eyes. So it can easily go both ways.
SOUND HOLIC produced Hoshi no Koiku from last year's Winter Comiket. Most folks equate it to little more than moving pictures voiced by some (again) recognizable voices. This is not that work, and is in no way affiliated with the circle SOUND HOLIC.
Most other animation you'll find on YouTube, including the Yuyuko/Youmu, the musical short clip between Reimu, Marisa, and Youmu... are usually short stints by fans who have no interest in distributing other than the internet. Usually, but not always.
The trailers created by MAIKAZE back some time ago is effectively what we should be getting. Unfortunately, there is little hope of a "license" for this property... considering it is doujin material afterall. ZUN, in a recent blog post, mentioned he didn't quite want folks to confuse this with a project backed by himself. MAIKAZE have made a point of posting on their main page in regards to the issue of this being a faithful "anime" to the franchise, and instead reaffirm this as a fan-made project.
I'm personally a fan of their doujin music offerings. If the quality of their music transfers to their animation production as a whole? I think fans (and yet-to-be fans) are in for a treat.
All we can do is remain hopeful I suppose. |

| So are Yuyuko, Youmu, and Komachi still going to be in the anime? As of now, they don't have any VAs listed here, but they're in the early trailers. |

Fairly sure the earliest trailer (where the animation quality isn't quite so fantastic) was intended initially to be something for fun MAIKAZE would do. Evidently, this entire fan-made animation project spurned from talk of the trailer bein' a full-fledged animation. Rather, the possibility with something of that caliber. The circle considered it, and decided to pursue it from that point forward as I understand it.
The secondary trailer seems where they started to flesh out the story and get the project off the ground. There has been talk from this circle's website of gettin' this out earlier (like at Reitaisai of this year), but there were some delays along the way it seems. It's taken MAIKAZE this long partially due to enlisting staff for the project. Quite often on their website there has been a call for a variety of staff from background painters to animators.
If I remember correctly... initial planning was for this to be three episodes, each 15 minutes in length. Whether that has changed since then? I'm not sure myself, but I suppose time will tell. If they keep this strictly to doujin events, and provided there is a second episode, we may not see the following episode until Reitaisai in March. There is Sunshine Creation before then, but I'd imagine they'd save any major Touhou related material for one of the big Touhou-only events.
Oh dear, gettin' wordy. Anyway, that's as much as I know (or can remember) at this time. |
