Is it me or have Sentai and Funimation been releasing their solicitations a week earlier than usual lately? I don't usually expect these until about the third week of the month.

Anyways, this is actually a pretty good Sentai month for me. Melodies is a no-brainer even though it's not as good as Memories, Mardock Scramble because it sounds interesting and has good buzz, and then Dream Eater Merry, which I've never seen, but was interested in and hinged on a dubbed BD release.

Mardock Scramble is a must-buy. I might get the other ones later on as well.

Hmm, nothing for me from this list that I have an interest in. Well just means I can save some more money.

I'm the anti-asimpson2006 here: I'm interested in all those titles. I'll wait and pick 'em off when they're cheaper, though.

Might get Ef-Melodies if I like the first series.

Grave of the Fireflies, no doubt. I don't know how great of a job they'll do in its remastering, but I have my doubts that Ghibli's gonna put out a blu-ray for that one anytime soon(and even if they do, I'm importing it all the same).

Nothing else.

Pretty happy my March buylist is entirely BD (pending Bandai or final Funi solicitations) finally.

Ef Memories - Jan
Ef Melodies - March
World God Only Knows - Jan
World God Only Knows 2 - ?

Would have been interesting if it HAD made it into March, but I have a feeling the newness and OVA is gonna set it back at least a few months.

Probably get at least Yumekui too.

This is why I didn't buy the DVD when they first released it. I figured the BD wouldn't be too far behind.

If you like Shaft at all I'd be very surprised if you don't like it. If you like any visual novel stuff I'd be very surprised if you don't like it.

I guess that makes my own choice obvious lol.

Same choices here, though I know nothing about the Mardock film I was planning to get it when it switched to BluRay since the art looks nice.

For what it's worth I really liked Memories and really didn't like Melodies. To me, Memories felt like it has some interesting things to say about people, memories, ambitions, and stories, while Melodies seemed more concerned with just being a drama about characters I couldn't get into. You may still like Melodies, but compared to Memories it is a different kind of show.

I don't think it was really a different kind of show, but I do think you could not like the character stories in it as much as the first one.

Unfortunately that wouldn't solve his problem, where he may like the first and not like the second even if he chose to go that way.

I'm not honestly sure which I prefer between them. I do think you are right about good aspects of memories, but I think melodies had a lot of great points. I liked how they brought out the kind of dark sides of some of the characters and I really liked the monologues in both series.

And of course visually they were both handled very well with one of the more unique visual styles, of course this is what Shaft is well known for now.

Looks like ef - melodies and Dream Eater Merry are what I have to look forward to from Section23 in March. Glad Dream Eater Merry finally got a solicitation, I've been waiting on that one every since I dropped fansubs of it part way through because they announced a license.
