Tales of Zestiria the X TV Anime Premieres July 3

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website for the Tales of Zestiria the X (pronounced "cross") television anime series revealed on Wednesday that the anime will premiere on Tokyo MX on July 3. The anime will also air on Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TV Aichi, and BS11 on July 5.

The staff will hold an advance screening of the anime's first four episodes at the Cinema Mediage in Tokyo on June 25, with live viewings in other cinemas in other cities. Ryota Ohsaka, Ai Kayano, Noriko Shitaya, ending theme song singer fhána, director Haruo Sotozaki, and producer Hikaru Kondo will be present at the screening for a talk show.

The show's English website describes the story:

Sorey is a human youth who grew up among the “seraphim” (tenzoku), spiritual beings not visible to humans.
Sorey believes in the folklore that says “long ago, every human was able to see the seraphim” and dreams of unraveling the ancient mystery to make the world a place where people and seraphim can live together in peace.

One day, Sorey visits the human capital for the very first time. He becomes embroiled in an incident during which he pulls out a holy sword imbedded in a rock and ends up becoming a “Shepherd,” one who casts away calamity from the world. He begins to realize the gravity of his mission, and his dream of coexistence between mankind and the seraphim becomes more intense—

And thus, the Shepherd embarks on an amazing journey with his companions.

The website also states that the anime will be available worldwide this summer.

The cast returning from the original game includes the following:

Ryohei Kimura as Sorey
Ryota Ohsaka as Mikleo
Ai Kayano as Alisha
Mikako Komatsu as Rose
Misato Fukuen as Edna
Daisuke Ono as Dezel
Kenjiro Tsuda as Zaveid

Additionally, Noriko Shitaya is replacing Miyu Matsuki as Lailah. Matsuki passed away in November.

Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria: Dōshi no Yoake, Tales of Symphonia the Animation) is directing the series at ufotable, and ufotable is also writing the script. Akira Matsushima (Tales of Symphonia the Animation, Tales of Zestiria: Dōshi no Yoake) is adapting the character designs from Mutsumi Inomata, Kousuke Fujishima, Daigo Okumura, and Minoru Iwamoto for animation, and Motoi Sakuraba and Gō Shiina are composing the music. FLOW will perform the opening theme, and fhána will perform the ending theme.
