posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

Emon Animation Company announced on June 21 that it is investing in the anime studio Artland for the purpose of strengthening its anime production capacity.

Late anime director Noboru Ishiguro established Artland in 1978. The studio produced such iconic anime as The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Megazone 23, The Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and Mushishi. It incorporated in 2006 and became a subsidiary of Marvelous. At this time, it produced such anime as Mushishi and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! In 2010, Marvelous split Artland into a rights holding company and the actual animation studio. The studio recently worked on last year's Komori-san Can't Decline series.

Emon is the Japanese branch of Haoliners, an animation brand based in Shanghai and a subsidiary of Shanghai Haoliners Cultures Media Co., Ltd.. The company was founded in October 2015, and Gonzo co-founder Shouji Murahama works as an operating officer in the company. The company is collaborating on a new anime with Geno Studio, Twin Engine's newly established company which is finishing Manglobe's Genocidal Organ film. The studio was involved in the production of last winter season's Reikenzan: Hoshikuzu-tachi no Utage anime, and is also producing The Silver Guardian (Gin no Guardian) anime. Emon is also involved in the planning of the Hitori no Shita - the outcast anime, which will debut on July 2.
