Game producer Hiroshi Utsumi announced on Thursday the he has resigned from his position at Sega. Utsumi is best known as the general producer for the Sega feat. Hatsune Miku collaboration project, which spawned the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA game series.

In his blog post, he writes that, "Anyone can try and guess why I left, but it's not because I've been made to take responsibility for something serious, or that I've come to dislike the series. It's more just me being selfish and wanting to try my hand at new fields. I'm thankful for the company and the team members for hearing me out."

Utsumi served as producer on the Go! Go! 575 television anime series, which adapts Sega's Uta Kumi 575 PlayStation Vita game, and is part of the company's Project 575 multimedia project.

The Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA game series began with the release of the first game in 2009 for the PlayStation Portable. The latest game in the series, the Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA X HD PlayStation 4 game, is slated for August 25 in Japan. Sega released the game in Japan on the PlayStation Vita on March 24. The game features 30 songs that can be remixed in the game's new Concert Editor.

In addition, a PlayStation 4 port of the Hatsune Miku: Future Tone arcade game shipped in Japan on June 23. A new installment to the series titled Hatsune Miku: Future Live is slated for release on October 13, alongside the PlayStation VR. The game will utilize the PlayStation VR in its mechanics.
